On March 8th, the day when women around the world, through their struggle and social activism, embodied the meaning of resilience and resistance in the face of injustice and discrimination, we stand in reverence and appreciation of Palestinian women first and foremost. They have been, and remain, at the heart of national steadfastness, guardians of the land, identity, and existence, and staunch defenders of their people’s right to freedom, life, and dignity. This day is an occasion for global recognition of women’s contributions, a renewal of our commitment to their struggle, and an appreciation of their resilience, which illuminates the path toward a more just and equitable society. On this occasion, we especially honour Palestinian women, who, over the decades, have set a legendary example of patience and defiance. They have withstood war and aggression, maintained the resilience of their families and communities, and stood tall despite siege, displacement, and forced migration. They have not allowed circumstances to break their will, nor suffering to weaken their spirit. They have been, and remain, the epitome of steadfastness and a source of inspiration for their people.
International Women’s Day, observed on March 8th this year, comes amidst exceptional circumstances. The war of extermination continues in its various forms in the Gaza Strip, and the war machine escalates its crimes and measures in the West Bank and Jerusalem, all under the shadow of American, Zionist, and Western plans to reshape the region at the expense of peoples’ rights and freedoms. In the midst of this complex crisis, Palestinian women stand at the forefront, defying all attempts to weaken them and proving that their will is a fundamental factor in the survival and advancement of their society.
Palestinian women have paid a heavy price for the ongoing aggression. The number of female martyrs has reached approximately 28,000, while some 58 Palestinian women are currently imprisoned in Israeli jails, subjected to policies of abuse, torture, arbitrary arrest, and deprivation of the most basic human rights. Women are also living through the tragedy of forced displacement, with nearly one million women displaced in the Gaza Strip, in addition to thousands of women in West Bank refugee camps, as a result of forced displacement, home demolitions, and destruction. In the educational sphere, some 400,000 girls have been deprived of access to their schools and universities due to the destruction of educational institutions or their conversion into shelters, a blatant violation of the right to education. The war has also left thousands of widows who suddenly found themselves solely responsible for supporting their families after the martyrdom of their husbands, under extremely harsh humanitarian and economic conditions.
The suffering of women is not limited to this, as Palestinian women face multiple forms of violations; from bombing and direct targeting of homes and shelters, to denial of healthcare and medicine, especially for pregnant women and the sick, passing through the policies of siege and starvation that exacerbate the suffering of mothers and children, in addition to raids and night arrests, house demolitions, and forced displacement in various areas of the West Bank and Jerusalem. Despite all this, Palestinian women continue to play their historical role of steadfastness and survival, bearing the burden of the family and society.
We, in the Union of Women’s Committees, on this occasion and based on our responsibility, affirm the following:
First, on this occasion, we extend our warmest congratulations and appreciation to the Palestinian people, and to every Palestinian woman – the martyr, the prisoner, the wounded, the educator, the mother, the fighter, the displaced, and the refugee – for her steadfastness and resilience in the face of challenges and hardships. Palestinian women have always been, and remain, a beacon of hope for their people, and a symbol of unwavering strength and dignity in all circumstances. On this occasion, we note that the resilience of Palestinian women is embodied in their daily actions, their capacity for endurance and sacrifice, their protection of the family and society, and their strengthening of national identity and collective memory. What Palestinian women have offered in these difficult circumstances is legendary steadfastness, embodying the will of an entire people in the face of occupation and displacement, and affirming that the will to live and live with dignity cannot be broken.
Second: The participation of women as full partners in public and political life and decision-making is essential, and they must have fair representation in all bodies, councils, institutions and unions, free from any legal or social obstacles, in order to ensure women’s presence and promote justice in our society.
Third: Protecting women in the context of genocide, occupation crimes, and various crises is a humanitarian and legal duty. We call upon the international community and human rights and feminist organizations to strengthen accountability mechanisms for the occupation, ensure that no violations go unpunished, and provide the necessary protection and support for women and children, in order to preserve their dignity and their right to live in safety.
Fourth: The economic and social challenges facing women today require practical empowerment policies, including support for small businesses and women’s cooperatives, development of social protection networks, and updating legislation to ensure equality and combat all forms of discrimination and violence.

بيان صادر عن اتحاد لجان المرأة الفلسطينية بمناسبة الثامن من آذار – اليوم العالمي للمرأة
ي الثامن من آذار، اليوم الذي جسدت فيه نساء العالم بعرقهنّ وكفاحهنّ الاجتماعي معنى الصمود والمقاومة في وجه الظلم والتمييز، نقف إجلالاً وتقديراً للمرأة الفلسطينية أولاً، التي كانت وما زالت في قلب الصمود الوطني، حارسةً للأرض والهوية والوجود، ومدافعةً أصيلةً عن حق شعبها في الحرية والحياة والكرامة. هذا اليوم هو مناسبة للاعتراف العالمي بإسهامات النساء، وتجديد العهد مع نضالهن، وتقدير صمودهن الذي يضيء الطريق نحو مجتمع أكثر عدلاً ومساواة؛ ونخص في هذه المناسبة المرأة الفلسطينية التي قَدمّت عبر العقود مثالاً أسطورياً في الصبر والمواجهة؛ صمدت أمام الحرب والعدوان، وحافظت على صمود أسرها ومجتمعها، ووقفت شامخة رغم الحصار والتهجير والنزوح، وهي التي لم تسمح للظروف أن تكسر إرادتها، ولا للمعاناة أن تضعف روحها، وكانت وما زالت عنوان الثبات ومصدر الإلهام لشعبها.
يأتي اليوم العالمي للمرأة في الثامن من آذار هذا العام في ظروفٍ استثنائية، حيث تستمر حرب الإبادة بصورها المختلفة على قطاع غزة، وتُصعّد آلة الحرب من جرائمها وإجراءاتها في الضفة والقدس، في ظل مخططات أمريكية وصهيونية وغربية لإعادة تشكيل المنطقة على حساب حقوق الشعوب وحرياتها. وفي خضم هذه الأزمة المركبة، نجد المرأة الفلسطينية في موقع الصدارة، تتحدى كل المحاولات لإضعافها، وتثبت أن إرادتها هي عامل أساسي لبقاء المجتمع ونهضته.
لقد دفعت المرأة الفلسطينية ثمناً باهظاً جراء العدوان المستمر؛ إذ بلغ عدد الشهيدات نحو 28 ألف امرأة، فيما تقبع حوالي 58 أسيرة فلسطينية في سجون الاحتلال، يتعرضن لسياسات التنكيل والتعذيب والاعتقال التعسفي والحرمان من أبسط الحقوق الإنسانية. كما تعيش النساء مأساة النزوح القسري، حيث نزح ما يقارب مليون امرأة في قطاع غزة إلى جانب آلاف النساء في مخيمات الضفة نتيجة عمليات التهجير والهدم والتدمير. وعلى الصعيد التعليمي، حُرمت نحو 400 ألف فتاة من الوصول إلى مدارسهن وجامعاتهن بسبب تدمير المؤسسات التعليمية أو تحويلها إلى مراكز إيواء، في انتهاكٍ صارخ لحق التعليم. كما خلّفت الحرب آلاف الأرامل اللواتي وجدن أنفسهن فجأة المسؤولات الوحيدات عن إعالة أسرهن بعد استشهاد أزواجهن، في ظل ظروف إنسانية واقتصادية بالغة القسوة.
ولا تقتصر معاناة النساء على ذلك، إذ تواجه الفلسطينيات أشكالاً متعددة من الانتهاكات؛ من القصف والاستهداف المباشر للمنازل ومراكز الإيواء، إلى الحرمان من الرعاية الصحية والأدوية، خاصة للحوامل والمريضات، مروراً بـ سياسات الحصار والتجويع التي تضاعف معاناة الأمهات والأطفال، إضافةً إلى الاقتحامات والاعتقالات الليلية، وهدم المنازل، والتهجير القسري في مختلف مناطق الضفة والقدس.ورغم كل ذلك، تواصل المرأة الفلسطينية أداء دورها التاريخي في الصمود والبقاء، حاملةً عبء العائلة والمجتمع.
إننا في اتحاد لجان المرأة، وفي هذه المناسبة، وانطلاقاً من مسؤوليتنا، نؤكد ما يلي:
أولاً: في هذه المناسبة، نوجه أسمى التهاني والتقدير لشعبنا الفلسطيني، ولكل امرأة فلسطينية – الشهيدة، والأسيرة، والجريحة، والمربية، والأم، والمقاتلة، والنازحة واللاجئة – على صمودها وإصرارها في وجه التحديات والصعاب؛ فالمرأة الفلسطينية كانت وما زالت نبراس أمل لشعبها، وعنواناً للثبات والكرامة في كل الظروف. وفي هذه المناسبة نشير إلى أن صمود المرأة الفلسطينية يتجسد في أفعالها اليومية وقدرتها على التحمل والعطاء، وحماية الأسرة والمجتمع، وتعزيز الهوية الوطنية والذاكرة الجماعية. وما قدمته المرأة الفلسطينية في هذه الظروف الصعبة هو صمود أسطوري، يجسد إرادة شعب كامل في مواجهة الاحتلال والتهجير، ويؤكد أن إرادة الحياة والكرامة لا تُقهر.
ثانياً: مشاركة النساء كشريك كامل في الحياة العامة والسياسية واتخاذ القرار أمر ضروري، ويجب أن يكون لهن تمثيل عادل في جميع الهيئات والمجالس والمؤسسات والاتحادات، بعيداً عن أي عوائق قانونية أو اجتماعية، بما يضمن حضور المرأة، وتعزيز العدالة في مجتمعنا.
ثالثاً: حماية النساء في ظل حرب الإبادة وجرائم الاحتلال والأزمات المختلفة واجب إنساني وقانوني، ونطالب المجتمع الدولي والمؤسسات الحقوقية والنسوية بتعزيز آليات المساءلة للاحتلال، وضمان عدم الإفلات من العقاب عن أي انتهاكات، وتوفير الحماية والدعم اللازم للنساء والأطفال، بما يحفظ كرامتهم وحقهم في الحياة بأمان.
رابعاً: التحديات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية التي تواجه النساء اليوم تتطلب سياسات تمكينية عملية، تشمل دعم المشاريع الصغيرة والتعاونيات النسوية، وتطوير شبكات حماية اجتماعية، وتحديث التشريعات بما يكفل المساواة ويكافح جميع أشكال التمييز والعنف.
