Translator’s Note: Currently, although there are many Socialists living in Argentina – the US and Catholic Church – have engineered a far-right (pro-US) government. This being the case, why would a far-right government “permit” a Cuban minority to issue a statement in favour of “Socialist” Cuba and “Socialist” Venezuela – particularly a statement openly criticising the US? Of course, not all Cubans living abroad support “Socialist” Cuba – but the Union of Resident Cubans in Argentina (URCA) seems to be left-wing. It could be a rogue article issued against the wishes of the Argentine government (a form of left-wing resistance) – or, it could be that the Vatican has issued an internal decree condemning Trump’s action on religious grounds (a non-Catholic entity has attacked a Catholic entity – quite often in contradiction to the will of the national governments involved). Bear in mind that whilst this is going on, the Vatican is also ensuring a continuous stream of South American “Volunteers” heading to fight for Neo-Nazi Ukraine against Russia. The 32 Cubans appear to have formed a lightly-armed single infantry platoon that served as a bodyguard to the President of Venezuela. They took-on 200 US Rangers and Delta Force soldiers supported by around 12 helicopters all armed with deadly (air-launched) search-and-destroy missile systems designed to neutralise all ground and air resistance (videos can be found online involving these helicopter-crews hunting and killing lightly-armed Islamic fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan – using body-heat, infra-red, and ultra-violate sensory equipment – amongst other systems). Sometimes, the US deploys military drones operated by stoned “gamers” sat in warehouses somewhere in the US wilderness. This is a prime example of the asymmetric warfare practiced by the US. The rebelling British (the origonal Americans in the 1700s) were so scared of the British working-class trained as “Red Coats” – that they decided to overcome this British superiority in infantry by designing and using superior cannon on the battlefield. The idea was to destroy the British soldiers “at a distance” (the US troops remained safely out of danger) – whilst using this technology. Only when the British superiority in numbers was diminished would the “American” soldiers dare to close the distance. This thinking of “fighting at a distance” using superior technology has permeated US military thinking from that day to this – and it works as long as the enemy is caught unaware and is prevented from initiating a cogent response (although the US has sometimes lost militarily – it has often prevailed politically – as if it had militarily won anyway). Cuba, of course is being slowly strangled to death economically by the illegal US blockade. The Cuban troops are well-trained and relatively (lightly) well-armed, but their technology is limited due to its isolation and lack of material resources. The US bourgeoisie understands that it is the maintenance of a crushing material dominance that wins wars and ensures that the capitalist system continues to survive. The physical bodies of those wanting a Socialist Revolution must be rendered “lifeless” (riddled with bullet-holes or reduced to ashes) if capitalism and class privilege is to be maintained. Regardless of the US ability to do this, according to the dialectics of Scientific Socialism – this shift (evolution) in society will happen eventually – and no force on earth will be able to prevent it! The Union of Resident Cubans in Argentina (URCA) – (Unión de Residentes Cubanos en Argentina) – today paid tribute to their Internationalist Compatriots who gave their lives in Venezuela during the US aggression of January 3rd, 2026, which resulted in the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife First Lady Cilia Flores.
In a statement, the organization honoured these fallen Comrades as “32 lions” (32 leones) who fiercely resisted to the very end. According to the URCA, the Cuban fighters were performing military functions at the request of the Venezuelan government and faced a “far superior and powerful” force of more than 200 elite (and special) soldiers backed by dozens of aircraft.
They claimed that they offered “total resistance” and caused casualties and damage to the attacking US Forces before being killed. The organization held US President Donald Trump directly responsible for their deaths.
«The URCA joins the pain of the people of Cuba, their families and friends of these 32 brave Cubans,”
The statement said, in a gesture of solidarity and condemnation that transcends borders and reinforces the discourse of joint resistance between Cuba and Venezuela.
