For a number of years we were associated with the Communist Party of Britain (CPB) – a breakaway from the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) in 1988 (it legitimised itself by taking the Morning Star Newspaper with it). We were part of a hard-left (Leninist-Maoist) group that sought to re-Bolshevik the Party and rescue from the White (male) middle-class (middle-aged) dictatorship it has been suffering in recent decades. Indeed, I knew there was something wrong when I attended a Croydon Branch meeting around 2009 where the question on the table asked “Was it right for the USSR to fight Nazi Germany?” I couldn’t believe this appalling Trotskyite perspective. One ideologue tried to hide this reactionary nonsense by suggesting Karl Marx had advised that we “question everything” – which is true – but not applicable here. The absurdity of this CPB position is that “it” is also subject to the same doubting parameters (thus negating the premise of the question). The CPB thought it had occupied the Trotskyite “high-ground” – but it was in fact the architect of its own demise. The Branch Secretary of this group stated to me that he did not “believe” in Lenin (?) and that the CPB met with a delegation of the Trotskyite “Socialist Workers’ Party” (SWP) ebery month – those morons who racially abused my partner and our children whilst participating on an Anti-Fascist March in London! One of these Croydon Branch clowns even stated the financial crisis was due to bankers “not being greedy” – but rather for “not understanding the value” of money!

The Morning Star often prints anti-DPRK and anti-Cuba propaganda – as well as anti-trans rhetoric (such as the above picture). The CPB and Morning Star also publish this revisionist propaganda online and in a continuous manner – aiming at the attention of young people – trying to prevent the next generation properly studying Marxist-Leninism and Maoism. The Morning Star never opposed the take-over of Ukraine by the Neo-Nazis in 2014 – and published endless articles criticising Russia during 2022 and there-after. The Morning Star also pursues a pro-Islamo-Fascist policy (which eulogises Muslim terrorism) – coupled with the continuous demonisation of the indigenous Buddhist traditions prevalent throughout Asia. This can be seen in its coverage of Burma where the West has been encouraging millions of Bangladeshi Muslims to invade the country and ethically cleanse the Buddhist population. This is important for the US which quite rightly associates ethnic Buddhist movements with the spread of Socialist ideas (Buddhism is doctrinally anti-capitalist). The US also sees Burma as being pro-China – and so a change in demographics could mean a shift toward capitalist India. The US did not realise just how fiercely the Burmese would fight to defend their villages – despite ISIS-type atrocities being committed – all ignored by the Morning Star.

During the murder of Charlie Hebdo staff for printing a racist cartoon featuring an Arab (which criticised Islam) – the CPB and the Moring Star “ignored” the racist motivation and racist nature of the cartoon (associating freedom of expression with the right to be racist) – and openly supported the Charlie Hebdo business (re-publishing the offending cartoon). This policy replaced the more correct position of condemning the terrorist murders – whilst simultaneously condemning the French racism that triggered this violent response. This is an interesting departure for the Morning Star which in other circumstances has seen its full support for Islamic violence – providing it is aimed at Buddhist minorities. The Morning Star’s position was echoed in the Communist Review – a copy of which I encountered during a visit to the Marx Memorial Library in London. This is an example of the disgusting racism that exists and manifests on the far-left in the UK.

Then there is the Morning Star’s uncritical support for professional boxing. Remember that the middle-class starve and persecute young working-class men until they are goaded through desperation to fight one another in the ring for the pleasure of a fee-paying public. Most men in professional boxing make little or no money – but carry the inner and outer scars of boxing all their lives. Only a very few boxers make millions by stepping into the ring. The numbers are small regarding substantial financial success – even though thousands try. Indeed, so much money is made betting on a young man that millions can be shared-out to peripheral and shady figures – before a single penny reaches a struggling fighter. This is why professional boxing is “banned” in all Socialist countries (and some capitalist countries like those in Scandinavia). Amateur boxing is permitted within Socialist countries (with Cuba dominating the Olympics) – whilst the amateur version involves no money whilst fighters wears headguards and bigger gloves – with the onus being upon good technique and gentlemanly conduct. The bourgeois idea of “equality” is to let women and girls participate in professional boxing and share the dubious honour of sharing in the brain-damage and permanent organ dysfunctionality that is suffered. The Morning Star often reads like the rightwing The Sun newspaper when sensationally reporting boxing matches – whilst remaining “silent” about the fact that far-right groups have infiltrated the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) – and are well represented in professional boxing.
