Translator’s Note: Believe it or not – the Belgium’s were happy to supply a shipment of arms and ammunition to the fledgling Revolutionary Forces of Cuba – whilst France was willing to deliver these supplies using one of its ships in 1960! President Dwight D. Eisenhower, however, had different ideas, and authorised the CIA to carry-out a terrorist attack to frighten the Cuban people and send a message to any left-wing leaning regimes operating in Western Europe. The CIA arranged for the La Coubre, a French cargo ship (freighter) to be blown up in Havana Bay. The US-terrorists murdered 100 people and wounded around 400 others. As the ship was unloading at the time – the US-terrorist explosion killed and wounded people on the ship and people around the ship on land. This is just one of many terrorist acts committed by the US – and yet we are all brain-washed to “feel sorry” for 911. ACW (4.3.2025)
Today we commemorate the 65th anniversary of the CIA sabotage against the French ship #LaCoubre, anchored in Havana Bay – and recall the sabotage, which took place on March 4, 1960, and was orchestrated by the intelligence services of the Government of the United States, according to documents subsequently declassified. It was a bitter, painful day, one of those that cannot be forgotten, not even by those of us who only know the facts from history.
Patria o Muerte, Venceremos, in allusion to the phrase pronounced by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, at the burial of the victims of the incident. Roberto Morales, secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, also sent a message on this event, describing the US terrorist event as a sad page in the history of the Cuban people.

The US terrorist act that left a hundred dead and more than 400 injured – the United States should be at the top of the list of sponsors of terrorism.

Cuban historiography agrees on pointing out that it was a sabotage prepared at the embarkation point by agents at the service of the United States to prevent the arrival of the shipment of arms and ammunition in Cuba. At the burial of the victims (March 5), Fidel Castro said for the first time the slogan that would accompany the Cuban revolutionary process until today: Homeland or Death.
