Visiting St Albans Museum – Excellent Educational Experience! (30.5.2024)

We visited St Albans on May 27th, 2024 (Bank Holiday Monday) – travelling from West Sutton to St Albans City via the train. Although our intention was to visit St Albans Abbey – we explored any area of historical significance. Part of the old building that now constitutes the Museum – once served as a Court – with an oppressive staircase leading down from the Court to a number of equally oppressive Holding Cells (now open to the public). Please use the data shared on this post to stimulate your own mind – and perhaps even pay a visit to this institute – was was FREE to enter!

St Albans Museum records the recent and the ancient history of the area – with the building itself being an important part of this record. I am including below a random but substantial number of photographs taken on the day – recording the many rooms, exhibits and important artefacts! On the day there was a very interesting Ladybird Exhibition – which interested Mei-An due to her advanced drawing ability! As usual, there was no data concerning Chinese migrants from the British Empire – but there was a very interesting exhibit regarding the Windrush Generation! Education is enhanced through diverse experience – and this visit although unplanned – was a vital component of our children’s cognitive development. It was not a planned visit and I do not know much about this place – but I share the fruits of our labours on the day!
