In 1944, Hitler was preparing for the Ardennes Campaign on the Western Front and deployed three German Armies in an attempt to solve the problem on the Western Front in one decisive battle. Among these soldiers of the Third Reich were the Orningberg Troops – led by Special Forces Commander Skorzeny – which wore captured US military uniforms and drove captured US military vehicles directly into the Allied front lines – causing terror and chaos wherever they went!
These fake American soldiers, however, quickly attracted the attention of the Allies. This top-secret bold plan was named “Project Griffin”. The most daring and dangerous work in the “Project Griffin” fell to 160 Nazi German Volunteers – who were proficient in speaking English. As secrecy was the key – these Volunteers were gathered together in the Grafenwöhr Training Camp – where they were fully isolated from other people – including their families.
The training was rigorous, including physical fitness, hand-to-hand combat, shooting practice and learning how to use American weapons and explosives. The traditional tight-fitting German Army uniforms were set aside and daily viewing of Hollywood films, especially war films, was required to improve the Special Forces soldiers’ command of American slang and body language. Skorzeny encouraged his men to chew gum and lazily salute their superiors – he even organized a group of Cadres to visit POW camps holding American prisoners – in order to perfect their camouflage skills.

这个绝密的大胆计划被命名为“格里芬”计划。格里芬计划中最大胆和最危险的工作落在160名精通英语的纳粹志愿者身上，这些志愿者被集中在格拉芬沃尔训练营中，他们不能和其他人在一起，也不能给家人写信，训练十分严格，包括健身强体、徒手格斗、射击练习和学习如何使用美国武器和炸药。
