This mural was painted on the reverse side of a skateboarding ramp in the Skateboarding Park of Collingwood Recreation Ground – Sutton. This is a separate section to the park itself situated next to the Borough Ground of Sutton United Football Team. These four young children (two sets of twins aged ‘3’ and ‘4’ respectively) died in a fire shortly after 7pm on December 16th, 2021. Their mother (Deveca Rose) – an NHS worker – had gone to a nearby Supermarket whilst the children slept to purchase supplies when faulty wiring in a set of fairy lights erupted into a sudden and intense blaze around the front door and upstairs bedroom where the children were sleeping.
Despicably, the ‘Black’ mother suffered an intensely ‘racist’ backlash from the local and national press – whilst the absentee ‘White’ father and his family were unnecessarily ‘courted’ by the same media – making the tragedy all about them! Meanwhile, I was told that the four bodies were laying on the road with signs of life still present whilst local hospitals ‘refused’ to take responsibility – citing Tory government Covid-19 guidelines. Apparently, the Tories issued a ‘D’ Notice which automatically prevented any further reporting on this matter – a turn of events which explains why no further details about this incident has occurred in the media. Furthermore, I was told that ALL photographs and video footage of the bodies lying on the road have been ‘seized’ and ‘destroyed’. I suspect this has been an operation designed to down play the racism of the reporting and the insanity of the Covid-19 guidelines which prevented four seriously ill children from receiving treatment.
