This is an abandoned French (6 X 6 ‘wheeled’) Amphibious Tank Destroyer (AMX-10 RCR) – used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine – which was captured (along with its ammunition stock) near Novodonetsk. This is essentially a beefed-up French ‘Armoured Car’ originally produced in 1970 and optimistically termed a ‘Tank-Killer’ (although this improved model dates from around 2000). France has provided this machine for use by the Neo-Nazi AFU – as it is currently being phased-out by the French Military. A ‘Special Forces’ Russian Federation Armed Forces Unit captured this machine and took the above photographs.

The ammunition discovered included 105 mm OFUM 105 F3 rounds – with white phosphorus (in the foreground) – as well as 105 mm OFL 105 F1 finned sub-calibre rounds (second in line). OFUM 105 F3 are intended for use as smoke projectiles – but under certain conditions they can also be used as incendiary devices. This is an out-of-date Cold War (lightweight) military machine more suited for domestic usage – controlling and countering civil unrest. This ‘Light Armour’ was designed to be used in a supportive-role with ‘Heavy Armour’ – but appears to have been incorrectly used by the AFU as a ‘Frontline’ Tank. As a consequence, its wheels (and under-carriage) have been easily destroyed by Russian Forces!
