Within China there is now a substantial body of academic work assessing the similarities between Buddhist philosophy and Marxist-Leninist (Maoist) ideology! The conclusion is that it seems certain that Marx was influenced by Early Buddhism to a certain extent – which he learned about through his good friend – Karl Koppen!
