The Communists of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LNR) are extremely indignant at the arrest of Oleg Horzhan (Олега Хоржана) – the leader of the Communist Party of Transnistria (operating in the ‘Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic’ – PMR) – his entire family, and more than 40 Communists and other leftwing supporters!
Against the Chairperson of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Transnistria (aka the ‘Communist Party of Pridnestrovskaia’), who is also a Deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR – an absurd accusation was made – namely that a violation of legislation occurred during a public action in Tiraspol on June 2. 2018. Following this false allegation, Oleg Horzhan was arrested right in the middle of a Parliamentary session!
Probably as an arbitrary act representing the suppression of Communism, the authorities have tried to extinguish the growing discontent in Moldovan society due to the rapid growth of social problems. Representatives of the authorities in the Republic – whose arms are still adorned with Soviet symbols (i.e. a hammer and sickle) – should be ashamed of moving upon their own people in such an oppressive manner! The persecution of Communists for holding Marxist-Leninist political views places the PMR on a par with the ultra-right nationalist regimes of Saakashvili and Poroshenko, whilst initiating the persecution of democratic leaders in the interests of the capitalist-supporting oligarchy.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LNR) resolutely opposes arbitrary arrests and political provocations, and declares its Solidarity with the Communists of Transnistria! We demand the immediate release of Oleg Horzhan! Hands off the Communist Party Transnistria!
