Activists of the public organization ‘Union of Communists of the Lugansk Region’, celebrated the traditional holiday of Soviet Youth Day. Within the framework of the event, there was a solemn procession followed by a 4-kilometre run. The procession was directed by the leader of the Komsomol (of the Lugansk People’s Republic) – Gleb Grinko – who noted the high appreciation given by the youth of the Republic to the fighting and labour traditions of their Soviet fathers and grandfathers. The succession of generations past was represented by the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Union of Communists of Lugansk Region – Oleg Popov – and the head of the Cultural-Mass and Sports Sector of the Organization – Andrey Kalashnik. The winners of the relay race were awarded anniversary medals and honorary diplomas from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. At the end of the event, participants attended a concert of Soviet creativity, ate kulesh and drank tea – all prepared over an open fire.
