The People’s Republic of Lugansk is an independent Socialist State (in Eastern Ukraine), that was formed in 2014, when its populace rejected the Western-backed neo-Nazi take-over of Kiev (in Western Ukraine). Alongside the Donetsk People’s Republic, this region of anti-fascist resistance is referred to as Donbass, and its manifestation of Soviet Socialism as ‘Novorussia’, or ‘New Russia’. Although Donetsk has only had two flag designs, Lugansk has had several, with the basic three stripes of light blue, blue and red forming the ‘official’ flag, and the Red Star ‘Seal’ of Lugansk forming the most popular combinaion.
