Faith and Virtue News – 7.9.2015 – reported that in the Cangzhou diocese of Xian County, in the parish of Zhangzhuang, a care-home for people with disabilities has been established in the Nan Danqiao area.  Initially this project met with indifference and a lack of concern from the local populace, but after much effort and hard work on the part of the project sponsor – Wang Bin (王斌) – this situation changed and people started rallying to the cause.  This has included the active support of a Christian vicar and six nuns who live and work in the area.  This cause has united the entire community in the love and concern for well-being of people with disability, and the concern to make their lives better and more fulfilling.

It is reported that an idea for a care home for people with disabilities started in the local Catholic Church at Nan Danqiao – where a man with disabilities named Qi Wanlong (齐万龙)  – who is a member of Catholics with Disabilities – requested a 10 am Morning Mass in his family home.  Afterwards those in attendance sat together and discussed the difficulties surrounding a life with disabilities.  Everybody then hugged one another and life-long friendships were formed.  When Wang Bin arrived with his know how and financial backing – this idea was made reality.
