The idea was to weaken it further by encouraging the Kremlin to divert troops into Asia. However, despite the material damage suffered – the USSR absorbed the losses and due to it Socialist system – was able to recover in a remarkably short-time. In just three-months of defeating the Nazi Germans – the war-weary Soviet Red Army was restructured, re-trained, and re-armed. However, the Soviets requested help from Socialist Mongolia – which was granted (Mongolia had not been involved in WWII). The Soviet Red Army entered Manchuria alongside the People’s Army of Socialist Mongolia which assisted in the destruction of he occupying Imperial Japanese. Due to the post-1945 US policy of placating a defeated Japan – Japan has not had to acknowledge, apologise, or make amends for the War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity its forces committed in China (and Asia) between 1931-1945. Today, Japan has followed the US example and elected a far-right leader – who denies War Crimes and sends tributes to the shrines dedicated to Japan’s historical War Criminals (Yes – the Americans permitted the establishment of these hideous entities). Japanese behaviour outside of Japan has become ever-more militant, destructive, and unpredictable in recent times. Many believe this fire was deliberate – and that the Japanese leadership is behind it.

For most people the reality of everyday life involved a mutually supporting communal-activity (a “Sangha”) with “bartering” reserved for the importing or exporting of goods and services. Every member of such communities was a) entitled to all the goods and services of that community, and b) was expected to contribute to the generating of those goods and services. Within the Vinaya Discipline, the Buddha states that the lay-community may participate in any form of “honest” (bloodless) commerce that may (or may not) involve the handling of money (coinage or otherwise). A lay-household must ethically budget to a) supporting itself, and b) the broader community (through charitable donations) – as well as “saving” money (or goods) for emergencies and hard-times. Part of this lay-budgeting involves the lay-household giving waste food and water to the bhikkhus (beggars) of the Buddha as they slowly (and consciously) “walked” through their neighbourhood on a daily basis. The reward is karmically-premised – as this action permits these monastics to pursue the Dhamma in the purest manner. The bhikkhus are “freed” from the requirement of their participating in the world of cyclic existence and this attracts an immeasurable measure of great and good karma. (The situation in China is slightly different – as although the laity is free to donate as little or as much as they like [thus generating good karma] – the monastics must grow their own vegetarian food – and not be a burden to any other community). As for the bhikkhus (and bhikkhunis) there is to be NO participation in the worldly activities associated with commerce. This is because all greed, hatred, and delusion must be uprooted during meditation practice from the mind and body.

UK: London’s Holborn Viaduct! (18.10.2026)

It seems that London had evolved into to two levels – creating steep inclines and bottle-necks. Movement was inefficient and caused traffic-jams and congestion. The government needed to reduce the ability of workers to come together in ad hoc and agitated groups. Therefore, engineers and architects were tasked with creating sturdy bridges that could handle weight and continuous usage – whilst functioning to link one level of existence to another. In a way, the design – at least the steps – remind me of multi-storey car-parks – although in a much more ornate state. Like the original Tube network – thousands of working-class men (many Irish) – dedicated their lives to building these structures. Of course, these ordinary men (who performed all the labour) are not remembered – but only the middle-class who control the means of production. It is through architecture that the current generation gains an understanding of what physically existed and came before them. Through physical structure – the thoughts that were in the mind of the creators can be seen in stone, wood, and cement. Furthermore, the statues tell something about the values and belief of the time.

Whether or not the Hong Kong-born (British Subject) – Li Shiu Tong (李兆堂) [1907-1996] – was his lover is open to debate – but the weight of evidence does seem to suggest that he was (either Li’s Chinese family understood he was gay and approved of it – or they did not fully comprehend what was happening – and mistook his travelling abroad as being the product of his clever and successful scholarship). Hirschfeld was around 49-years his senior. I will attempt to look-up a reliable Chinese-language biography of Li and translate it for this blog. After the death of Hirschfeld – Li tended to drift toward the idea that LGBTQ identities are partly genetic and partly environmental. Li studied medicine in Shanghai – but never finished his degree – and even studied at Harvard, again without completely his degree. He was obviously very intelligent and managed to leave China and hold his own in the West. Li died in Canada aged 86 – with his younger brother dealing with his affairs. Reports suggest most of his Western property (much of it inherited from Hirschfeld – was thrown into a public skip. Indeed, a passerby is said to have rescued some of it – including the text-books, notes, and even the death-mask of Hirschfeld.

UK: Email – Initial Thoughts on Nidal Hasan! (10.10.2026)

Still, as we pay our way in the UK (either through labour or money) – I suppose that once conception of stealing somebody else’s land becomes “normalised” as a practice – well – anything is permissible after the “honestly earning” rule is broken. Fireing-squads are at least honourable – whilst hanging is reserved for a common criminal. Major Nidal Hasan (Dishonourably Discouraged) has been paralysed below the chest since the police shot him in 2009 (I am not sure if it was “civilian” or “military”). Again, he had just killed 14 fellow soldiers and wounded 32 others – in a clinic for serving military personnel suffering from Psychiatric Disorders. Ironically, when discharged from military service – the US government no longer cares about their well-being – as all Veteran Association hospitals and clinics have been shut-down – because they “cost too much” run. As far as I am aware – Mr Hasan believes his death will be a “martyrdom”. In a recent US academic report – the US military has killed between 20-30 million people around the globe since 1945 to present. All the victims of US aggression around the world are left wondering when President Trump will hold the killers of their families and friends to account? Short answer – never. Long annswer – do not hold your breath.

Many politically illiterate Indians seem to equate this anti-Socialist lunatic with a Brahmanical “Che Guevara” (a name popular in the Latino and Hispanic communities – but for different reasons). Bose, of course, was a staunch ally of Adolf Hitler and Imperial Japan (although Hitler was not keen on Bose’s odea of India’s Independence – stating to him that India needed a longer stint of British rule [possibly a century more] to bring it into the modern world) and turned a blind-eye to the pogroms of extermination carried-out by the Japanese against various ethnic groups in and around North India (the British and Indian Armies eventually put an end to this mass killing by crushing the Japanese – and Chandra Bose’s fledgling “Indian National Army” – at the Battle of Kohima). Bose would go on to die in a suspicious aeruplane crash in Japanese-controlled “Formosa” (Taiwan) whilst attempting to flee to Japan in 1945. Of course, as the Catholic Church has an ongoing policy of supporting the political far-right (see Neo-Nazi Ukraine), this has manifested in many Central and South American countries (loyal to the Vatican) possessing priests who agitated on behalf of the fascists and Nazis – actively encouraging parents to name their children after prominent friends of the Catholic Church. In the case of the gentleman featured below – Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores – this person appears to have received “both barrels” in this regard.
