Laos will send a total delegation of 164 members, including 62 women, comprising athletes, coaches, and officials. The Lao team will compete in 12 out of the 19 sports on the official competition program: athletics, swimming, powerlifting, goalball, wheelchair basketball, boccia, football, cycling, shooting, fencing, badminton, and tennis.

An official send-off ceremony for the delegation was held on January 9, 2026, at the Lao National Olympic Committee Club. The event was attended by Ms. Dalavone Kittiphan, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports and Vice President of the National Paralympic Committee of Laos (NPCL), and Ms. Khanthaly Siriphongphanh, President of the NPCL, along with relevant officials.

Laos: First Cassava Starch Train-Export to China! (1.12.2025)

The cargo was organized by China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd., the carrier of the China-Europe Railway Express, and provided customers with full-process logistics planning, container loading design, pickup and delivery, waybill preparation, information tracking and emergency response services.

The Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd. (LCRC), which operates the Lao section of the China-Laos Railway, stated that since the railway opened, it has offered Lao agricultural exporters high-quality container resources and reliable transport capacity, ensuring the timely delivery of goods. To date, the company has handled more than 16 million tons of freight, including over 1.7 million tons of agricultural products exported to China.

Going forward, the LCRC will continue working closely with Chinese railway authorities to regularly operate freight trains carrying cassava starch and other agricultural products, providing a safe, efficient, and high-quality logistics channel for Lao agricultural exports.

DPRK: Lao People’s Democratic Republic Foreign Minister Arrives in Pyongyang! (15.11.2025)

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) — Talks between Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and Thongsavanh Phomvihane, foreign minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, were held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall here on Nov. 12.

Present at the talks from the DPRK side were Pak Sang Gil, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and other officials of the Foreign Ministry and from the Lao side were the foreign minister and his party.

The talks exchanged views on the issues of further strengthening the traditional friendly relations between the DPRK and Laos and promoting mutual support and cooperation in the international arena by thoroughly implementing the agreements reached by the top leaders of the two countries last October, and reached a consensus of views on them.
