UK: Charlie Chuck Does Horoscopes! (7.6.2026)

Wonderfully discontinuous! Professor Charles Chuck from up North! Today, the venerable Professor addresses the subject of ancient Celtic Horoscopes – and informs the audience of an interesting archaeological find in a cave somewhere in England. Although I am considered an expert in translating ancient Chinese text – I cannot translate what Prof. Chuck is saying (or the way he is saying it) for non-native Brits. Apologies for that – you are stuck with reality I’m afraid. Just allow the cadence to wash across you like a cool breeze and permit the jumbled metaphors to come and go as they please. This is from the James Whale Show of 1993. A masterpiece of a sketch. It may not mean a lot to you – but it meant even less to Prof. Chuck! I have had academic teachers who made about as much sense to me as Ptof. Chuck means to everyone else!

Ruby (2008-2024)

RIP “Ruby” – the Malamute Wolf-Dog! (2007-2024)

Despite her size and strength – Ruby was gentle with children and other pets – despite being more than able to defend herself if the need ever arose. We shared many long and meandering walks through the hills and dales of the Devonshire countryside over the years. Once, whilst in a local forest Ruby jumped into the river and disappeared deep into the murky depths. she eventually re-emerged and scrambled unscathed up the bank – all for a Jaffa Cake! Another time she jumped through an (open) upstairs window and walked around on the roof for about an hour – be fore Gee finally managed to entice her up the roof tiles and back in! People travelling on a local double-decker bus were watching the spectacle as the bus drove past!

China: History of the Dragon Dance! (19.2.2024)

Hakka people – who are originally from Central and Northern China perform the ‘Phoenix’ Dance. A Chinese Phoenix looks like a Dragon (with different and darker colouring) – but has a central horn (like a Unicorn) on its forehead. Where this idea comes from no one is sure – but there is a rumour that Hakka people are a mixture of Han Chinese and the invading European ‘Hunnish’ Tribes that plagued the Northern borders of China thousands of years ago! The Hakka (Guest People) are responsible for the Qin and Han Dynasties and have spent their time migrating forever Southward over the centuries (bringing their Northern language, culture and martial arts with them).

Old Telephone Box - Galmpton

Galmpton Village: A Boxing Day Walk! (26.12.2023)

Although we had booked today (December 27th, 2023) to visit Agatha Christie’s house (Greenway) nearby – we just received an email notification that due to the bad weather – the house is currently ‘Closed’! Although there is a storm blowing – many Agatha Christie enthusiasts have still made their way here – one or two from as far away as Japan! Still, we are not exactly Agatha Christie fans, but we are interested in history and cultural development. Yesterday, the wind and rain stopped for an hour or two and this allowed myself and Gee to walk the dogs through Galmpton Village. It seems to be a place where rich people retire and the envious walk through.

The Cosmonaut Party! (21.12.2023)

The “CP” is a none revisionist astronomical-technological institute that rejects the inverted (Trotskyite) ideology which states that all space-exploration rockets should point “downwards” and travel to the Moon through the centre of the Earth’s crust! The “CP” is of the opinion that all rocketry should pursue a path which points “upwards” and traverses through the atmosphere!
