The Great Halls of King Arthur’s Court – Tintagel – Cornwall 26.7.15

In the earliest layers of legend – King Arthur is a pre-Christian British leader – who unites the land and brings peace and prosperity to the land of Britain. He is assisted in this task by the magic Celtic wizard named Merlin. After Christianity arrived in Britain, the early Christian missionaries were surprised by the fact that the local Britons believed in the story of Arthur to a greater extent than they turned to the foreign and unfamiliar religion of Christianity. To combat this indigenous threat to the spread of Christianity, the missionaries pursued a policy of harnessing local ‘pagan’ beliefs and superimposing upon them a Christian interpretation.

Launceston Castle – Cornwall – 25/26.7.15

Castles of this type (motte and baily) were effective because they symbolised an evolutionary development in human military planning. Lightly armed warriors from agricultural societies could penetrate these structures on foot, and often suffered very high casualties attempting to do so. Furthermore, tribal groupings living on farm lands, had no equivalent fortified structures to hide behind.

Church of Ireland – 60 Years of Child Abuse – Thousands of Children Institutionally Beaten, Sexually Assaulted, and Mistreated

The Report also revealed that the Irish Catholic Church had a nonchalant attitude toward the sexual abuse of children under their care – considering this abhorrent behaviour to be both ‘normal’ and ‘endemic’. Abusers, if they were ever questioned about their illegal behaviour, were dealt with through a secret form – a procedure that did nothing to fundamentally address the issue or prevent further abuse. Victims that grew up in Church institutions, later disclosed their experiences, but many high-ranking Church officials were of the opinion that their claims were exaggerated and not real. Church officials thought that the most important thing (for the Church) was to prevent the scandal, rather than help the victims of the child sexual abuse, who had suffered untold mental and physical injuries.

The US CNN News Channel & ‘Collective Silence’

Cafferty sparked this issue on April 10th – which has caused consternation throughout China and Chinese people living abroad, and despite the demand for a retraction and apology by CNN from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, CNN has refused to acknowledge the extent of their insult against China, although some other Western media outlets have assured Beijing that CNN does not speak on behalf of all Western countries. China has clearly and carefully presented this case to CNN – but CNN has made matters worse by supporting Cafferty and applying a blanket silence.
