Blogger’s Note: When I monitor the Islamic (pro-Iranian) chatter – it is more or less religious based (a blend of left and right-wing ideology). It reminds me of England 500-years ago – prior to Henry VIII’s 1534 Act of Supremacy – and England’s break with the Vatican. At that time, the Wills pertaining to my “Wyles” ancestors in Duddington always begin with something like “In the Name of Almighty God – and his Only Son Jesus Christ – I hereby bequeath…” – this rumbles on (in various formats) for a few hundred years – and during the 1800s we start to see phrases like “Being of Sound Mind and Body – I hereby bequeath” – and so on – as Western society slowly “secularised”. Interestingly, the term “secular” is used by the Christian Church to denote its religious activities within ordinary society (see “Canon Law“) – outside the church and the monastery – amongst the illiterate lay-people in the midst of their everyday lives (this made sense when a large number of peasants became monks and nuns – leaving their siblings to assist their parents to toil the fields – as these toilers required instruction about god relevant to their status). Overtime, as the yoke of Catholicism was broken, the term “secularism” changed in definition and usage. Now, the term “secularism” (outside the Church) pertains to a “political, civic, and cultural” space – “free” of any and all religious influence. Indeed, generally speaking, this is the objective of all Scientific Socialist societies – whereby religion becomes a private matter for the individual (in other words, a personal choice pertaining to the self – rather than to society at large). As Socialist society evolves into a Communist existence – where there is no more State or class – the requirement for superstitious belief will disappear as the unjust external conditions in outer society (that generate the inner mechanism which shackles individuals to the inverted imagination that gives-rise to religion) fall away. So, here is the choice – a left-leaning Islamicist regime (that also attracts centrist and right-wing Islamic views) vs a right-leaning Zionist regime (funded by the US) – that is rejected by the left in the West. The analysis in the below article might be termed “secular” in the modern sense, as it attempts to materially (and impartially) assess the existential material conditions pertaining to the US-Israeli War on Iran. I say “impartial” – but of course this assessment is from a (capitalist) bourgeois perspective. It is as impartial as a US university can muster – and only then because there is a system-wde dissatisfaction with the Trump regime. Remember, Obama (the Democrat) threatened Iran with a military invasion, and the destruction of Iran is as popular with the Democrats as it is with the Republicans. The type of discontent being expressed below is really about attacking Trump and his decisions. If a different leader was in power in the US – who had not attacked the US education system – most US universities would be pumping-out pro-war ideology by now. Press TV, of course, appears to be a UK based, left-leaning Islamicist-friendly channel supported by disaffected leftists (and former Labour MPs) – that pursues its own amorphous (but slightly Trotskyite) agenda. Marxist-Leninists must learn to “see through” the propaganda (left and right) and extract the required material details from it. This is one of our required survival skills – living within the capitalist system. ACW (17.3.2026)

A prominent, internationally renowned political scientist says US President Donald Trump has “committed a foolish act” by entering in a war of aggression against Iran.
John Mearsheimer, a professor of political science at the University of Chicago, said in remarks that Trump was “shocked and stunned when confronted with the reality that the Iranian people and their armed forces did not immediately surrender,” contrary to what he called the president’s wishful thinking and illusions.
He emphasized that the United States, even in coordination with Israel, is incapable of overpowering either the Iranian people or Iran’s military.
“We cannot defeat the Iranians. By imposing such a war, we are only sending a message of stupidity,” he said.
“It is now being proven that we are nothing more than fools.”
Mearsheimer further stressed that the United States cannot achieve any of its stated objectives in the war, citing the absence of a clear roadmap and insufficient military power to do so.
His remarks follow comments by David Zax, a wealthy Jewish businessman and an adviser to Trump, who reportedly admitted that Israel could face complete destruction if the war continues for several more weeks or months.
These developments come as US and Israeli media outlets have expressed shock at the effectiveness of Iran’s indigenously developed drones and missile systems.
The United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28 in an unprovoked act of aggression, targeting sites across the country, including schools, hospitals, and sports halls.
Iran responded by launching missiles and drones at targets inside Israel as well as at US military bases across the region.
