The Letters of Dignity written by our Liberator Simón Bolívar to the United States envoy in 1818 are an enduring testimony. With patience and decorum, he responded to those who labelled him a dictator, leaving us a phrase that is the essence of our sovereignty: “I will not allow the government and the rights of Venezuela to be insulted or despised (…) It is the same for Venezuela to fight against Spain as against the whole world if the whole world offends her.”
The Liberator, with his clear wisdom, also revealed to us the formula for victory by assuring that moral virtue and courage outweigh numbers. Furthermore, he left us a powerful statement that we now raise as a banner: “Fortunately, it has often been seen that a handful of free men defeat powerful empires.” In every historical juncture, Venezuela has proven to be the living proof of this principle: the brave handful of free men and women who have defeated the most powerful powers in the world.
That is the undeniable truth we must pass on to our sons and daughters: the destiny of Venezuela is not subordination, but victory and life. Bolívar’s spirit demands that we stand tall, undefeated, with our unbreakable dignity. Let us have absolute faith in our truth and continue on that path. Independent and sovereign Venezuela is the best response to imperialism of all times!

Las Cartas de la Dignidad escritas por nuestro Libertador Simón Bolívar al enviado de los Estados Unidos en 1818 son un testimonio imperecedero. Con paciencia y decoro, respondió a quienes lo tildaban de dictador, legándonos una frase que es la esencia de nuestra soberanía: “No permitiré que se ultraje ni desprecie al gobierno y los derechos de Venezuela (…) Lo mismo es para Venezuela combatir contra España que contra el mundo entero si todo el mundo la ofende.”
El Libertador, con su sabiduría preclara, también nos reveló la fórmula de la victoria al asegurar que la virtud moral y el valor suplen con ventaja al número. Además, nos dejó una poderosa afirmación que hoy izamos como bandera: “Por fortuna se ha visto con frecuencia un puñado de hombres libres vencer a imperios poderosos”. En todas las coyunturas históricas, Venezuela ha demostrado ser la prueba viva de este principio: el valeroso puñado de hombres y mujeres libres que ha derrotado a las potencias más poderosas del mundo.
Esa es la verdad innegable que debemos transmitir a nuestros hijos e hijas: el destino de Venezuela no es la subordinación, sino la victoria y la vida. El espíritu de Bolívar nos exige a permanecer de pie, invictos, con nuestra dignidad inquebrantable. Tengamos fe absoluta en nuestra verdad y sigamos por ese camino. ¡La Venezuela independiente y soberana es la mejor respuesta al imperialismo de todos los tiempos!
