Blogger’s Note: Although the bourgeois media collaborates with the right-wing and the far-right (but never with the left-wing or far-left) – always dehumanising and demonising migrating populations – very little is said about “why” populations are forced to move, and the cost in human-life that this illicit migration extracts from those forced to relocate. Bourgeois governments blanket-bomb any area where non-capitalist regimes develop. This opens these areas to US and Zionist-funded religious extremists who rape and murder in the name of the West. Ordinary people, deprived of the stability of their State – runaway from the religious extremists and the poverty the Western bombs have caused. As the hypocritical bourgeois always perpetuate the lie that the killing of non-capitalists is in the best interests of humanity – those who survive the bombing – are “invited” to the West to start a new life. The Human Rights Act does not protect the populations of the world from Western blanket-bombing (or the indigenous European populations from having their Socialist Systems taken from them) – but it does guarantee that if displaced-migrants can make it to the UK – then they will receive everything free that the indigenous population no longer receives. This disparity (and contradiction) is exactly what the British far-right trades-on. Here’s the issue. Migrants need to make it across the Mediterranean – as this article explains – but already tens of thousands “die” before they make it into the EU. This is never explained in the UK media. The migrants who survive the crossing of the Mediterranean are then “forced” through the various EU countries (that could have helped these people and distributed them out fairly – but refused to do so) they reach France – where the French Authorities then place them on dangerous dinghies to cross the English Channel to the non-EU UK. Even then, these dinghies often capsize and migrants die in the water. It is predatory capitalism that is causing all this death and destruction. If all the wealth was focused in Russia – then British people would be forced to leave England and migrate looking for safety and an income. At the moment, and due to the UK amassing immense wealth over the last 500-years – then the onus is on the poorer populations heading toward the concentration of the wealth. The 1991 destruction of the USSR and Communist Bloc plunged half the world into immense poverty – and allowed predatory capitalism into those areas once kept economically stable through the correct management of Socialist market forces. At least 27 migrants have died after two boats capsized while attempting to cross the Mediterranean from Libya to Italy.
Around 60 survivors were rescued from the seas off the island of Lampedusa, while the search for others continues, News.Az reports, citing foriegn media.
More than 700 people have died trying to cross the central Mediterranean this year, according to the UN’s refugee agency (UNHCR).
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni offered her “deepest condolences” to the victims. A UNHCR spokesperson said there was “deep anguish” felt over the incident.
More than 90 people were aboard the two boats before they capsized, Flavio Di Giacomo, spokesperson for the UN’s International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said.
The island of Lampedusa is home to a migrant reception centre that is often overcrowded with challenging living conditions. It welcomes tens of thousands of migrants who have survived the often dangerous route across the Mediterranean to Europe every year.
Those who make the journey often travel in poorly maintained and overcrowded vessels.
At least 25,000 people have gone missing or been killed while trying to cross the central Mediterranean since 2014, according to the IOM.
