Today, the Al-Qassam Brigades published a letter from one of the female detainees (Daniel and her daughter Emilia) who was in the hands of the Palestinian resistance Hamas and who was released in an exchange deal as part of a humanitarian truce.
The message says:
“To the special soldiers that have accompanied us in recent weeks – it seems that we will part tomorrow – but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the immense humanity you have demonstrated toward both myself and my daughter (named “Emilia”).”
The detainee said: “You were like parents to my daughter. When she requested – you invited her to your room at every opportunity. She admits to feeling that you are all her good friends and not just guards – but real carers of her well-being. Thank you for the many hours you provided childcare.”
She added: “Thank you for being patient with her – and showering her with sweets, fruits, and everything available – even when these things were not available for yourselves… My daughter considered herself a Queen in Gaza.”
She continued in her message: “Every Palestinian person we have net on our long journey – from foot-soldiers the Leaders – treated Emilia with kindness, compassion, and love.”
She said: “I will never forget my time as a prisoner – thank you for your kindness – because of this good treatment Emilia will not leave here with any psychological scars. I will mention your kind behaviour despite the difficult situation that you were in – and the difficult losses that befell your people in Gaza.”
She concluded her message: “I wish that in this world we could be truly good friends. I wish you all health and wellbeing and love for you and your family. Thank you very much.”
