Tom Wintringham returned to the UK after the Spanish Civil War and worked as a journalist. He used his experience of fighting fascism in Spain to call for the establishment of a ‘Home Guard’ in the UK made-up of ordinary people defending the area within which they lived from the threat of armed invasion. He wrote a number of progressive books on modern warfare which emphasized guerrilla fighting but were also critical of the class-based system of the UK military. This Communistic thinking immediately made him unpopular with the rightwing Winston Churchill and the middle class officer corps.
Jeremy Corbyn has been elected as Labour Party Leader in the wake of the Conservative and Libdems policy of ‘Austerity’, which has been nothing more than an excuse to enrich the middle class at the expense of the working class. The question is ‘why?’ has the Labour Blairite neo-conservative over-lords (who are in the pockets of big business) allowed this to happen? I suspect that a trap has been set by the Blairites to finish off Socialism within the Labour Party once and for all. The thinking is probably something like this; allow a token Socialist to take control of the Labour Party – but in such a manner that does not allow its big business infrastructure to be compromised through Socialistic reform – let him announce a Socialist Agenda, and then watch him lose the next General Election. Once the election is lost, the Blairites can announce to the British people that Socialism is well and truly dead and that the Labour Party must now pursue the more level-headed, middle of the way (i.e. ‘middle class’) direction – in other words ‘Blairite Red Toryism’.
Indeed, the climate of disunity that Trotsky created for international communism led directly to the 1956 Khrushchev denunciation of Stalin – and the subsequent Sino-Soviet Split.
Greece can lead the way for other European nations to follow. Europe can reject US Imperialism and its EU lackeys! Greece should pull-out of the EU – and the UK should follow this example. The EU is the enemy of the working class and the enemy of Socialism! Once a nationalised industry is privatised – under EU law it can never be ‘re-nationalised’. This is an EU charter for the destruction of any working class movement toward Socialism and the dislodging of the middle class from its position of abusive power.
This invasion took the German military emphasis away from the UK (and the USA) – who had been encouraged by British diplomats (and others) to attack the USSR prior to the start of WWII. The duplicitous Winston Churchill, for instance, was quite happy for Nazi Germany to destroy the Soviet Union – until Britain itself fell prey to the Nazi menace.
