Prosecution lawyers alleged that the couple – who had split at the time of the murder – had planned to kill Asunta in cold blood, although it was stated that Porto actually carried-out the crime. The child was drugged with a sedative called Orfidal administered over a period of around three months before her death – when it is thought Porta strangled Asunta to death.
