‘The Vietnamese man who killed ten Chinese people (and wounded ten others) – left a suicide note stating that he was protesting about the Chinese government insisting this is the ‘Year of Rabbit’ (and ruthlessly controlling the accompanying merchandise to Vietnam’s detriment) – when in fact it is obviously the ‘Year of the Cat’. What a world we live in.’
This is all part of what happens within ethnic Chinese homes and living spaces. Outside, there will be martial arts performances which will include lion, dragon and phoenix dances to bring good look – whilst families meet to celebrate together! In China there is now a two-week holiday with various traditional rituals on certain days! As China moves toward ‘Socialism’ – people are changing and becoming more modern and scientifically minded – and this leads to knew interpretations of reality and historical processes! This is a good thing as dangerous superstitions are abandoned, traditions are clarified and made safe and easily shareable, and Chinese people develop ‘Internationalist’ attitudes and tendencies!
It is the Year of the ‘White’ Rabbit and the traditional year in China is ‘4721’ since the reign of the Yellow Emperor! This surprises many people, as all they have known throughout their lives is the Judeo-Christian calendar. As this calendar became ‘secularised’ due to the rise of the rich merchants (Bourgeoisie), the industralisation of society and the development of capitalism – many ‘Socialist’ countries have adopted its use as an expedient device designed to aid international relations – and China is no exception. Of course, we are effectively discussing comparative mythology, but my point is that China currently represents the ‘oldest’, ‘continuous’ and ‘unbroken’ culture in the world – and not the ‘West’. Today, the temperature is 3 – Celsius in Sutton, South London, and I do not think any sane rabbit would be hopping about amongst the crisp frost! Whilst the family still slumbers – I thought I would share a video and some photographs whilst hoping the Revolution will come sooner rather than later – and that all the unjust suffering humanity is experiencing due to the capitalist system will be brought to an end! We can live in hope!
I think that there are some similar sets which include books (or ‘texts’) after 1934 – but I do not possess any of these sets. I have always thought that JV Stalin’s leadership skills of the USSR 1936-1945 would be of the utmost interest for the working-class! From 1936-1939 the USSR coordinated the International Working-Class in its fight against the Catholic-backed ‘Fascist’ uprising in Spain! During the late 1930s the Soviet Red Army not only took on a ‘Fascist’ Finnish Army (an enemy encouraged by Hitler and the capitalist West) – and whilst doing this also inflicted consecutive military defeats upon some of the best Units the Imperial Japanese Army had to offer (during 1938 on the Manchurian-Korean border – and during 1939 on the Manchurian-Mongolian border). What follows, however, involves a report made by JV Stalin during December, 1917, when the Catholic Church (and capitalist West) was deliberately causing derision primarily throughout Western Ukraine – interpreting the presence of an ‘Internationalist’ Soviet Army (which included Ukrainian volunteers) as being merely a ‘Russian Army’ pursuing Bourgeois ‘Nationalist’ aims of conquering land and subjugating populations! As a text, it is like a script exactly describing what is happening in the Ukraine today! Of course, there is a ‘Russian Army’ today – but it is coming to the aid of those Ukrainians in the ‘East’ of that country who want nothing to do with the US-backed Neo-Nazi regime headquartered in the West of Ukraine!
EH Carr wrote objectively and in-depth about the history of the Russian Revolution (of 1917) and the development of the USSR (in 1922)! In many ways the work of EH Carr (which stretches to many volumes) is a fair ‘Bourgeois’ analysis of this crucial aspect of working-class history, as it covers virtually all the significant areas of 20th century development within the International Communist Movement! His work on the Bolshevik Revolution and the Soviet ‘Planned Economy’ represents a historical tour de force that covers not only ‘Russian’ history but also many of the key developmental issues effecting such countries as China, Korea and Vietnam, as well as those post-1945 countries throughout Eastern Europe that formed the ‘Communist Bloc’. Obviously, in the post-1956 Khrushchev-era fair-minded historians such as EH Carr were forced to ‘insert’ anti-Stalinist lies and disinformation into their work if they wanted it to be published! Most free-thinking individuals can read between the lines in a number of EH Carr’s later works which sometimes differ in part from the glowing approach he adopted pre-1956! On the whole, however, the infrequent and atypical interferences from under-pressure Publishers can be easily seen, duly noticed and discarded as being of no historical worth! EH Carr, writing very much like Antonio Gramsci whilst languishing in an Italian prison – had to write in a pro-Communist code that the average US-controlled censor was not smart enough to catch! Author’s Note: Alexander Werth was born in Russia in 1901 and emigrated to the UK with his family during the 1917 Russian Revolution. Although his father had been a railwayman (and working-class) – following his early death his mother had remarried a thoroughly ‘Bourgeois’ banker – which led to him being forcibly ‘extracted’ out of Revolutionary Russia at the critical moment of its greatest humanitarian success! Despite a thoroughly ‘Bourgeois’ upbringing in the UK – an ‘English Gentleman’ no less – Alexander Werth retained an interest in the machinations of his Russian (Soviet) homeland, an interest bolstered by the fact that he could fluently read, write and speak the Russian language! Indeed, working as a BBC Journalist during WWII, Alexander Werth secured a permanent frontline posting with the Soviet Red Army and witnessed first-hand the barbarism of the Nazi German invasion! Due to his loyalty to the Soviet Cause, after the conflict he was granted a face-to-face interview with Comrade Joseph Stalin – who assured him that the USSR would NEVER go to war with the US or UK – as both countries (and peoples) had diligently stood by the USSR as reliable ‘Allies’ during the darkest days of the Nazi German (and ‘Axis’) invasion! Stalin was particularly appreciative of the UK which had stood alone from 1939-1941 – an example which had inspired the Soviet people to endure the unendurable! Having spent the years 1941-1949 in the USSR – Alexander Werth returned in 1959 to see what changes had occurred following Khrushchev’s denouncement of Joseph Stalin! In his book ‘Russia At War’, Alexander Werth had exposed the fact that Nikita Khrushchev – the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Ukraine – had been given the task of coordinating and leading the defence of the region against the Nazi German onslaught during 1941! Khrushchev had ordered the Soviet Red Army in the region to ‘fight to the last man’ whilst he quietly caught the last aeroplane out – thus abandoning the Communist Party and the Red Army to their horrific fates! Stalin knew about Khrushchev’s cowardice and there was always the threat of Khrushchev being arrested and tried for his behaviour – when Stalin had fewer pressing issues to deal with! This is the basis behind Khrushchev’s betrayal of Stalin and the adoption of a Trotskyite direction the USSR adopted after 1956 (resisted by Maoist China)! It is interesting to note that Marshal Zhukov REFUSED Khrushchev’s demands that he alters his biography and ‘denounce’ Joseph Stalin! In many ways the book extracted here covers the Marxist-Leninist ground that served as the foundation of the USSR! Although entitled ‘Soviet Man’ – today this title might be better translated as ‘Soviet Person’ or even ‘Soviet Humanity’, etc, as such a ‘new’ Socialist human-being includes ALL men, women and children without exception! This is what the Communist Party of the Soviet Union intended on December 30th, 1922, when the ‘Union of Soviet Socialist Republics’ (USSR) was announced, developed and constructed!
