Colombia Breaks Diplomatic Links, US Students Protest and UN Investigates Isreali “Genocide” in Gaza! (2.5.2024)

Speaking to a crowd in the capital Bogota, the Colombian president referred to the Israeli government as “genocidal.”

“The era of genocide, of the extermination of an entire people before our eyes, before our humanity, cannot return,” said Petro, adding that if Palestine dies, humanity dies.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz denounced Colombia’s decision. “Relations between Israel and Colombia have always been warm, and no antisemitic and hate-filled president can change that,” he said on X, formerly Twitter.

The Colombian president has expressed his intention to cut off diplomatic ties with Israel on several occasions since the UN Security Council adopted in March a resolution on ceasefire in Gaza.

Colombia recalled its ambassador to Israel in October, a few days after Israel launched military operations in densely-populated areas in Gaza in response to Hamas attack.

Present there were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., WPK, Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the C.C., WPK, Choe Son Hui, minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Song Nam, department director of the C.C., WPK, and Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the C.C., WPK.

At the luncheon, Kim Jong Un proposed a toast to the eternal development of socialism in the two countries, longevity and good health of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the successful DPRK visit of the party and government delegation of the PRC led by Zhao Leji.

Kim Jong Un had pleasant chats with Zhao Leji and other members of the delegation in a harmonious and friendly atmosphere, further deepening friendship.

The luncheon proceeded in a harmonious and warm atmosphere.

After the independence, the Syrian people have achieved many successes in the struggle to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the country and achieve socio-economic changes, resolutely standing against the ceaseless moves of all hostile forces for aggression and intervention, the message said.

Expressing the belief that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries would grow stronger, the message extended invariable support and encouragement to the just cause of the government and people of Syria for defending the sovereignty, peace and security of the country. “The continued U.S. arms sales to China’s Taiwan region seriously violate the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, interfere in China’s internal affairs, and undermine China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” according to a Decree of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China No.5.

“Pursuant to Articles 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 15 of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Countering Foreign Sanctions, China hereby decides to take the following countermeasures against U.S. companies that participate in arms sales to China’s Taiwan region, including General Atomics Aeronautical Systems and General Dynamics Land Systems，” it said.

According to the countermeasures, all the companies’ movable and immovable properties, and other kinds of assets within China shall be frozen. And their senior management shall be denied visas or entry into China.
