Those bones, marked by the suffering and wounds of the Crucified One, are the physical echo of a life spent for love. The Basilica of St. Francis will become, during that month, the spiritual heart of the world. A massive influx of pilgrims from all Continents is expected. Internal divisions in the Church of England, especially around the ordination of women and the blessing of same-sex couples, have caused a steady flow of Anglican clergy to the Catholic Church in recent decades. This is reported by The Telegraph, citing a recent study that counts at least 491 former Anglican vicars who have been ordained Catholic priests in the last thirty years.

The phenomenon dates back to 1992, when the General Synod of the Church of England approved the ordination of women, a decision that triggered a first wave of departures. Since then, doctrinal and moral debates have intensified, generating a growing fracture between conservative and liberal sectors of Anglicanism.

Culture is an interesting thing – as it often changes and switches. When Henry VIII abolished the Roman Catholic Church in the UK in 1534 (Act of Supremacy) – followed by the Dissolution of the Monasteries – these were tremendous Revolutionary acts that must of shocked the entire population. Even before this, Henry V annulled all foreign-owned abbeys and monasteries (as many English church establishments had been given as gifts to ecclesiastical authorities in other countries) – bringing them into the ownership of the English State. Perhaps the Revolutionary writing was on the wall. Still, out of all this, the “Anglican” (Protestant) movement development – and most of the churches in the UK today are “Protestant” (the Catholic Church was only permitted back into the UK during the early 20th century – but it remains very much a minority religion).

Anyway, I digress. This morning, and for the first-time in decades, I heard a local Parish Church ring the church-bells – summoning the faithful to worship on this crisp Sunday-morning! I am literally sat in the epicentre of history! Probably far more so than usual. As you can see above – in the bedroom I am frequenting – there is a wooden safe built into the wall. The wood does not seem that secure to me – and I know I could easily place my fist through the door – it seems that thin (not that I would do such a thing). Years ago (in Hong Kong) when I had to punch objects whilst holding an egg in the palm (which had to remain “unbroken”) – the objects I had to hit were far more “stout” than this structure. I cannot not discern any writing on the casing of the safe – but such a craftsman’s signature might be immediately adjacent to the inner wall structure.

When I read these posts, I can’t understand why you keep talking about Charles I and fixate on his execution hundreds of years ago! Are you some kind of idiot? Charles I is not the same person as Charlie Kirk – why would you think these two men are the same person? Kirk is his second name and not an alternative word for a Church – idiot. Well? You keep bleating on about the far-right being stupid and anti-intellectual – but here you are talking trash about the great Charlie Kirk – who was murdered by out of control leftists controlled by Tel Aviv. And yes, I know that recently I have started back-peddling away from my usual antisemitic attitudes – but you would do the same if one of your colleagues was shot for just wanting to express his freedom of speech. What happened in 1600s England has NOTHING to do with what happened in 2025 in Utah! Trannies are dangerous and I suspect you sit at your keyboard writing these ridiculous posts dressed as a women and wearing a long wig!

My Chinese family came to UK only after we (the “English”) invaded and subjugated their country. Half of my relatives are born in the UK – but we still have relatives living in China. We think Socialist China is a good thing and that China has a right to self-determination. This is not a threat to the UK – but extolls the freedom of thought the UK teaches its children that they possess at school. By supporting China – we are exhibiting the best of ancient Greek thought. We are also supporting everything great and good about England. Furthermore, we oppose English fascism and Ukrainian fascism. We oppose any form of racism and Neo-Nazism. Russia has the same right of self-determination as China and the UK. NATO-backed Neo-Nazism in Kyiv is NOT the best way to uphold and support World Peace! We are NOT Christians – but we do support the right of Christianity to exist and we admire the architecture of Christendom.
