Disability History Month: British Museum – Eight Histories of Disabled People in Ancient Egypt! (18.12.2024)

Disabled people have always been present and active in society. Many specialists and experts around the world have started to investigate representations and lived experiences of disability and care in the past through archaeology and museum collections. The objects and remains highlighted here demonstrate some of the stories we are uncovering and hint at the discoveries that might be made in the future. We hope that these stories will demonstrate to everyone that disabled people have always existed and been part of the story of humanity, and empower disabled people to see themselves in history, and to continue making it, thousands of years into the future.

UN Votes for Palestinian Self-Determination!

UN: General Assembly Resolution Affirms “Right” of Palestinians to Self-Determination! (18.12.2024)

The ministry highlighted the importance of implementing the General Assembly’s resolution, which endorsed the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the illegality of the Israeli occupation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the countries that did not support the resolution and voted negatively to reconsider their positions and join the moral majority in line with international law. It also reaffirmed its commitment to working with members of the international community to implement these resolutions and turn them into effective mechanisms for action.

US: Population Warned to Stop “Droning” On! (18.12.2024)

As the US government instils a sense of invincibility in its people – what constitutes this “threat” often takes on a definite “other-worldly” dimension! Even before WWII (and the later US-derived “Cold War”) – the sheep-like population of the US believed it’s country was under attack from Martians! Following a radio broadcast of HG Wells’ “War of the Worlds” (narrated by Orson Wells) in 1938 – widespread panic ensued as aeroplanes, kites, clouds, stars, and tricks of the light were reported all over the US as “UFOs”! Witnesses believed 100% that the US was being invaded by Martians armed with advanced weaponry and technology. Farmers armed with shotguns mistook unfamiliar water-towers for Martians already deployed on earth – and opened-fire!

Confederate General – George E Pickett [1825-1875] – Married a Native American Woman! (17.12.2024)

ostensibly to fight Native American Indians. By this time, George Pickett was already a widower – his first wife having died in childbirth when he was stationed in Texas. He was stationed at Fort Bellingham when, in 1857, he married a “royal” Native American “Haida” (teenage) woman. Such a mixed-race union was forbidden under the laws of Washington Territory – with the marriage ritual probably being Native American. Although no photographs of “Morning Mist” are known to exist – she did leave a Chinese Tea Chest to her son – James Tilton Pickett. When “Morning Mist” died – George Pickett ensured his wife was the first “indigenous” woman to be buried in a Cemetery designated for “White” Christian people only. This which would have caused a considerable public outcry at the time. The grave of “Morning Mist” has been lost to time.

China: Ma Baoguo [马保国] – Latest Hot Dance in Nightclubs🤣! (16.12.2024)

I previously wrote about “The Antics of ‘Master’ Ma Baoguo (马保国)!” on our family martial arts blog! When I first saw his comic movement – I thought he was the “Chinese” Charlie Chaplin! Of course, at the peak of his income, Mr Ma could generate alot of income – trading-off the idea that he was a “Qigong Master”! Even the Chinese government has been forced to intercede on the grounds that this lovable fool might be doing himself “harm” will all the strange and exotic things he does for publicity. Why on earth a man well into his 60s would voluntarily attend a stage in a bustling Nightclub is beyond me! Whatever the reason9s) – his comic genius is once again on full display!
