Translator’s Note: This is the problem with British Imperialism – there’s no end to it (at school in the 1970s – I was taught the “Golden Triangle” ws a good thing – as it “created British jobs for hundreds of years). I am not surprised when I learn about yet another abuse of a people’s human rights – or a military attempt to prevent another people’s self-determination. The People’s Army of WWII in the UK was very different to any army that came before or after – as it was part of a world-wide opposition to organised fascism and Nazism. Of course, war and warfare is hideous – and that is true regardless of whether the cause is just or not. The bourgeoisie like war because it does at least three useful things for this class, a) it directs the working class toward an attitude of willing self-sacrifice for a cause that does not benefit itself, b) it prevents the working class from organising around Socialism to prevent war and enhance peace, c) it solves unemployment overnight (the so-called “Hitler” miracle), and it boosts the economy through full employment via arms manufacturing, etc. Once the working class is diminished in one area – mass migration is used by the bourgeoisie to keep numbers up and wages down. Mass immigration also serves to breakup pockets of national and cultural identity – thus removing the solid framework that serves as the national foundation of Socialism – that flows into “Internationalism” – or the constructive interaction of different ethnocentric groups on an equal and respectful footing. Socialism must b built from the ground up wherever a human grouping happens to exist. Affluence must be slowly built here and now through hard work (as in the 15 countries that comprised the USSR – or the 56 ethnicities that comprise Socialist China). Poorer areas are assisted by richer areas through advice, training and comradely support. What is not done is the de-population of a poor area by shifting its population to a more affluent area – as this has the effect of a net impoverishment (as no more profit is generated – but a limited amount now has to be spread further). Socialism alleviates poverty by immediately pooling available resources, eradicating unjust debt, and directing the forces of production into the constructive benefit of the society concerned. The exact opposite of the debt-ridden bourgeois society – and the very reason that the US military is currently massing on the Venezuelan borders! ACW (10.12.2025)
The #9Dic of 1902 is a date etched into our national dignity! In an unprecedented act of aggression, the British Empire, the German Empire, and the Kingdom of Italy launched a naval blockade against our coasts, deploying their warships. This unusual, unprecedented, and absolutely unjustifiable act met with an unwavering response from the great nationalist leader, General Cipriano Castro.
Despite the fragility of the National State, which was just beginning its restoration work, President Castro, with the poise of a warrior, managed to summon the historical force necessary to save the Republic. He did so through a proclamation calling for combat: “Venezuelans, the insolent plant of the foreigner has profaned the sacred soil of the homeland!”. In the face of this vile assault, the national spirit became unparalleled: from the humble who enlisted to confront the cannons, to San José Gregorio Hernández, who joined the patriotic ranks.
Thus, in the face of similar challenges and recurring threats that combine psychological warfare and economic blockade, the legacy of Cipriano Castro and the popular reaction of 1902 are our fundamental inspiration. Just as in that moment, we will not shy away from combat. Peace, stability, and sovereignty will prevail once again. Our only formula has been and will be the popular victory against imperialist pretensions.
