There are at least three Scottish men of military age – who did not have the balls to face-up to the pathetic Community Service sentences they received for their racist behaviour – and legged it to Thailand. These men are from Elgin – a place I visited a few times to pick-up the son of one of my Chinese friends (she was married to an Irishman who settled in this part of the Scottish Highlands). Elgin is a tiny place with virtually NO ethnic minorities – so why it would produce three young men in one generation who took-up the banner of National Socialism – is beyond me. Whatever the case, despite referring to their little racist club as the “Highland Division” – they did not possess the balls of these real British soldiers who served against the Nazi Germans during WWII. This Chinese friend of mine (who was born in British Singapore) held high positions in local government and discovered that in one of the forts (I cannot remember if it was Fort William or Fort George) there was a Chapel of Remembrance dedicated to WWI. In the Books of Remembrance, there were hundreds of men named “Wyles” who had fought and died during the Battle of the Somme. These men – fathers, sons, uncles, cousins, nephews, and friends, etc – all died wearing the tartan of the Seaforth Highlanders. These men – who carried my British surname – possessed the balls to die in heaps of tattered tartan, and they did it to preserve the everyday freedoms we all now possess!
Furthermore, there are White young men from England who have also legged it to Thailand because they do not possess the balls to face the consequence of the racist viewpoints they possess and espouse. Why are these racist White men – who would proclaim the racial inferiority of the Thais (and sanction their physical attack and deportation from the UK) – suddenly feel the urge to travel thousands of miles and take-up existence in a fully unfamiliar Buddhist culture of an ancient country? It makes no sense from the Hitlerite perspective. Why waste all your internal energy resenting the physical presence of these distinctive people when everyone is frequenting this Sceptred Isle? When I worked for a Thai Buddhist Mission in the UK (they gave a job when no one else would) – based in Warwickshire – I met the local Thai population. They numbered around 20-people who paid for a small Buddhist Temple and a handful of monks (mostly Englishmen). Many years later – and I am now a teacher of (Chinese) Buddhism, and my family frequents the Buddhapadipa Temple situated in Wimbledon (my English teacher – Richard Hunn – spent sometime at this place in the 1970s and made a BBC TV Pebble Mill programme about it). The King of Thailand pays for this Temple so that everyone in the UK can make use of it for free.
Racists should pay the price for the hateful opinions they possess. Racists should not be allowed to spew such race-hate – and go about their lives as if they are doing nothing wrong. Furthermore, racists who are cowards, that is, those racists who do not even possess the courage of their convictions, should not be allowed to run away to foreign countries as if they own these countries and can dictate “when” and “where” they go. Other countries – the victims of racism – should not feel obliged to take-in British racists who are running away from the consequences of the racist views they hold. Racism cannot become normalised, and racists should not be permitted to control the social narrative. Thais are mostly Buddhist – and the Dhamma forms the basis of Thai Secular Law. Karma is the key to understanding Thai Law. What people have done in past lives manifests in this present life. Therefore, if British racists suddenly emerge out of the ether – Thais believe there is a karmic connection that has brought them to Thailand. The Thai people they meet have some form of karmic connection that must be played-out through social interactions. This is the entanglement of greed, hatred, and delusion which has to be untangled, smoothed-out, and ended through wisdom, compassion, and loving kindness.
As a White racist can be born in any body from any ethnic group – a racist essentially hates every other rebirth they have experienced – and will hate all other rebirths in the future! For the Thais – a racist is building the ridiculous karma of eternal self-hatred. Although a racist may cause all kinds of racial suffering due to the damage they inflict existentially in their wake – they are also constructing an immense edifice of self-loathing. A White racist born into a Black body will experience a profound mental and physical self-hatred which will manifest in all kinds of mental disturbances (klesa). As Buddhism advocates wisdom – the logic of the racist represents stupidity in its most profound form. Whereas White racism emerges from the distortion of the Christian religion – which advocates that non-White people psychologically and physically deprived of their well-being, possessions, and even their lives – Buddhism operates on the principle of a wise forgiveness that seeks to uproot delusion through a superior knowing. Ironically, whilst receiving the highest form of civility when self-exiled to Thailand – it never occurs to these fools that the wise Thais are uprooting the entire foundation of their racist world view! Of course, the Thais are not fools and if Western behaviour crosses a certain line, then physical violence might occur. This will be sudden, spectacular, painful, and decisive. The pain suffered is considered the appropriate karmic reaction to whatever offense led to its application. Some of these British racists have tried to rape Thai children (the evil “immigrant” they try to convince us exists behind every lamp-post in the UK) – and so Thai men (all of whom have trained as monks, soldiers and Muay Thai fighters) apply the appropriate medicine. If too many lines are crossed – then a Western body is often found stripped naked and floating in a local river. Again, karma, whilst no one questioned has seen a thing. This is what awaits the average White British racist if they are cowards and decide to run away from the consequences of their actions in the UK!
