I suspect the UK has a different “Father’s Day” to the rest of the world. That’s because the UK culture is so old – we probably invented it. We are not responsible for the rest of the world deviating from the blue-print of culture we founded! It is odd, as dear friends from around the world suddenly wish me “Happy Mother’s Day” – or “Happy Father’s Day” – when absolutely NOTHING is happening in the UK and I do not know what they are talking about! Of course, I nod politely and go on about my day. I do not give a damn about what the US “is” or “is not” doing. If Englishness worked properly, the world would be a better place. There would be “International Morris Dancing” – with Brazil dominating due to a “Capoeira” influence!
Seriously though, when I look back at the perfect days of the late 1970s – the UK was basically a Soviet State managed by not too convincing representatives of the bourgeoisie! NHS Staff were paid fully and received everything a grateful State could provide. Our NHS friends would go on holiday to Cuba and Yugoslavia – two Socialist States with free cradle to the grave healthcare. Tony Blair blanket-bombed Yugoslavia for 78-days in 1998 – simply because its people wanted to stay “Socialist” (the US deliberately bombed the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade as a “warning”). Although I recognise the bravery of the RAF during WWII – I am reticent to visit RAF Museums on the grounds that since WWII – the RAF has been involved in one bombing atrocity after another – including killing our Comrades in Yemen. As an Englishman – I refuse to accept this behaviour from my country. England has a responsibility to bring peace and harmony to the world – emanating from Stone Henge – and not to participate in the destructive underbelly of US anti-intellectualism.
My Huawei iphone camera was working magnificently yesterday! I only get the cheaper models – but my goodness – the technology is top notch! This camera has evolved in Beijing from the China Space Programme! The CPC has this idea that advanced technology can be spread throughout the world via differently priced products. The cheaper Huawei iphones have few functions – but exactly the same standard of camera as the more expensive models. As I have said before – poverty is overcome by re-distributing wealth – in my view. I am not keen on the modified capitalist model – but that’s just me. Still, we had a wonderful time yesterday just walking around a local park! Today – it is Father’s Day – how wonderful!
