(KPL/VNA) – Madame. Vo Thiang Xuan, Vice State President, assumes the position of Acting President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from March 21st, 2024, until the National Assembly elects a new President, an announcement of the National Assembly Standing Committee Issued on March 21st 2024 – following the 15th National Assembly’s 6th Extraordinary Session – Announcement No. 765/TB-UBTVQH15 – made on the basis of the Constitution and relevant legal provisions.

According to the news from the National Radio of Vietnam, after the 6th General Session, the 15th National Assembly, based on the Constitution of the Republic of Vietnam and the provisions of the relevant law, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly announced the notification on the exercise of the right to be the President of the country with the appointment of Mrs. Vo Thiang Xuan, the Vice President of the country as Acting President of the country – from March 21st 2024 until the National Assembly elects a new President.

After this meeting, the Delegates listened to the report of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the cancellation of the 15th series of National Assembly duties for Mr. Chen Tuan Ang – who belongs to the National Assembly of Cang Hoa province – considering the issue of the position of the President of the Republic of Vietnam for 2021-2026 term of office.

Canceling the duties as a member of the XV session of the National Assembly for Mr. Vo Van Thuong – who belongs to the Da Nang City National Assembly Committee – considering the issue of dismissal as a member of the XV session of the National Assembly for Mrs. Hoang Thi Chuay Lan, who is a member of the National Assembly of Vinh Phuoc Province.

After listening to the report, Mr. Vo Van Thuong’s proposal, the National Assembly discussed, voted by secret ballot and adopted the Resolution on the resignation of the President of the Republic of Vietnam for the term of 2021-2026 and the cancellation of the duties as a member of the XV National Assembly for Mr. Vo Van Thuong, the Resolution on the resignation as a member of the XV National Assembly for Mrs. Hoang Thichuylan.
