People came in their tens of thousands not only from every part of the UK – but also from many places outside of Britain! The situation that has seen an openly ‘Socialist’ Jeremy Corbyn revive Labour Party fortunes (and despite severe political and media obstacles) almost oust the rightwing Tories out of power, has inspired leftwing leaning people from around the world! This new ‘Battle of Britain’ has given not just the British people hope, but also has galvanised the international community against the forces of fascism, with what is hoped to be the eventual voting of Jeremy Corbyn to the esteemed post of British Prime Minister, and into 10 Downing Street! We were even, at one point, marching next to a US citizen who was carrying a Communist Party flag past Downing Street! Throughout the world, the political happenings in the UK are being closely watched, as potentially marking the beginning of an international fight-back against the forces of capitalist-inspired fascism – and of course – Donald Trump! As Members of the Croydon Branch of the CPB – we formed-up outside the Chinese Embassy in Great Portland Street around 12:15hrs – not far from the BBC – with the march getting underway at around 13:20hrs. The masses – in jubilant mood throughout, got to Parliament Square around 15:20 hrs – where a touched Jeremy Corbyn addressed the crowds, calling for the Tory government to resign and call a general elections!
