My Chinese language (and Buddhist) teacher – Richard Hunn (1949-2006) – used to write reviews for Amazon that were so good, Publishers would pay him for quoting these texts in their printed (real-world) versions! As he guided me through the British Academic world – he taught me to review long texts in a shortened but informative format – using Amazon as a testing ground. I wrote hundreds of these prior to 2010 – but soon got fed-up with the political censoring and interference. Indeed, I switched the review process of good books to this very blog as my voice was being crushed by US anti-intellectualism. Here is the Review that got through:
