Kai-Lin on the Champion's Podium!

Redhill: Gymnastic Bronze Medal Earned By Kai-Lin! (24.3.2024)

Every Monday evening at around 5 pm – and after a long day at school – Kai-Lin gets her sport gear on and heads out to train in Gymnastics at Wood Field School. Sundays are usually the only day Kai-Lin has a complete rest – but she was up at 7 am and loosening up for today’s challenge! The Judges ruled that over-all – the points Kai-Lin earned – secured a “Bronze Medal” in her group! Kai-Lin demonstrated that sheer will-power can prevail!

London: St James Palace! (25.8.2023)

We had to head South-West from Trafalgar Square around 0.6 miles toward Buckingham Palace. Our intention was to show the children – Mei-An and Kai-Lin – how the soldiers carry-out their duties in an orderly and well-organised manner. Although the frontline ‘Guards’ had been drawn back away from the crowds decades ago at Buckingham Palace – I knew that the general public could still get reasonable close at the nearby St James Palace – but on the day of our visit – the soldiers were not to be seen in their usual places! Indeed, most were absent except for the side-gate which is used for the main entrance (pictured above) – but even here – the soldiers had been pulled-back behind the metal fence and away from the public.

Email: Socialist Martial Arts – ‘Systema’ (система)! (8.6.2022)

The cultural and religious baggage within Asian cultures generally means that it takes decades to finally arrive at the ability that Systema teaches from the first day of training (and only then, if the practitioner of the Asian arts has found a competent Master). This signifies the ‘Socialist’ egalitarian nature of ‘Systema’ where there were no coloured belts representing a fascistic and hierarchical grading system – as is common within Japanese culture. In the original Soviet – (and now ‘Russian’) – martial system (Systema), the highest form of inner and outer awareness, body-alignment, organisation and movement, as well as advanced technical manifestation – is taught first without any hesitation, whilst an individual’s psychological and emotional (spiritual) understanding of what a practitioner is physically experiencing has to catch-up over the many years of training.

Black History Month: Bolaji Badejo (1952-1992) – the Nigerian Actor Who Played the Monster in the (1979) Alien Movie!

In all the years I have re-watched the Alien movie (in various formats) no one has ever mentioned that an African man was essentially playing the lead-role in any of associated commentaries! How could this fact have been over-looked in a film that has gone down as iconic? He made all the sinister and threatening movements that made the ‘Alien’ believable and extremely disturbing and frightening to the watching audience and made the film what it was!
