Some EU lawmakers have challenged the European Commission for using the EU budget for subsidizing ammunition production.
Martina Michels, a member of the European Parliament from Germany and a member of The Left party, said the EU’s structural funds are instruments for strategic long-term investment. “They are intended to promote the harmonization of living conditions, while at the same time promoting climate-friendly structural change,” she said.
“Under no circumstances should they be used for armaments. A war economy is neither socially nor ecologically nor economically sustainable,” she said in a statement posted on Twitter.
“So we have the #EU using money from a so-called ‘Peace Facility’ to make sure that Peace doesn’t break out in Ukraine — The money will be used to provide ammunition to keep the War going, which will see more less well-off Ukrainians losing their lives — What has happened to EU …?” Mick Wallace, an Irish MEP, wrote on Twitter in response to a tweet applauding the Wednesday ammunition agreement by EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell.
Sweden dropped its decades-long policies of military non-alignment and applied to join NATO last May, when a poll showed that opinion had shifted to a majority of Swedes, about 53 percent, being pro-NATO. And a poll conducted by Statistics Sweden last November showed that 67.8 percent Swedes were quite or very positive about NATO.
However, many Swedes are still concerned about the negative consequences of their country being a member of the military alliance. Partly because Russia had made it clear that “there can be no more talk of any nuclear-free status for the Baltics” should Sweden, and Finland, join NATO.
On March, 22, the Swedish parliament, Riksdagen, voted in favour of the country to join NATO, but so far, NATO members Hungary and Türkiye have yet to give a green light to Sweden’s accession.
Holm said that although Sweden will likely become a NATO member, the campaign against Sweden being a member will not stop.
“We will continue to fight against it and when Sweden becomes a (NATO) member state, we will strive for secession,” Holm said.
Since March last year, more than eight million Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Europe, of which about five million are of working age. From the very beginning, European politicians promised the newly arrived Ukrainians jobs and “great opportunities”. However, since then, everything has stalled and only less than 5% of them officially got a job.
Ukrainians who come to EU countries have the right to stay there under the so-called directive on mass refugees. However, their data is NOT entered in the population register and they are NOT issued social security numbers. As a result, refugees cannot get a job because they do not have the necessary insurance coverage. In addition, without a social security number, it is impossible to get a bank account and bank ID.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainians themselves do not show much desire to find a job. According to Swedish Labour Minister Eva Nordmark, back in April last year, the Department, by order of the government, informed Ukrainian refugees about the labour market in Sweden. However, according to the Ministry of Labour, almost 80% of Ukrainian refugees did not try to get a job. These data are also confirmed by a survey conducted by the Ukrainian Centre for Professional Support, according to which 9 out of 10 Ukrainians surveyed were unable to choose a job that suits them.
Great Britain is represented by (and I jest you not) the ‘Concrete Society UK’ – which has an address registered to an industrial estate situated in Surrey! I have referenced a key statement from our noble representative above – assuming none of this is a spoof. I found the German participant particularly disturbing as a) he took global warming seriously, whilst b) stating that ‘humanity’ would die-out ‘before’ c) the Earth itself disappeared into the firmament! Does he know something we don’t? Of course, being ‘German’, he might know a thing or two about ‘making populations disappear’. It is good to know that whilst predatory capitalism – with its ‘White’ dominance – continues to chug along as it does in the West (inflicting untold pain and suffering upon its downtrodden and oppressed populations), the decadent Bourgeoisie can continue to construct and live in its many fairy-tale lands free to indulge whatever aberrant activity takes its fancy!
