Disabled Children Treated with Compassion!

Across China: Rehabilitation Assistance Brightens Future of Disabled Children! (21.1.2024)

Many Chinese families have benefited from the National Assistance System for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Children since its establishment in 2018. In Gansu, designated Rehabilitation Institutions for Disabled Children have increased from 30 to 205 over the past years.

The Provincial Government also invests over 43 million Yuan annually to support the Rehabilitation Institutions, and that figure is expected to increase to 63 million Yuan in 2024. Some cities and counties further adopt diverse development models, including Public-Private Partnerships, to include more Disabled Children aged between 6 and 17 in the Rehabilitation Assistance System.

With the efforts of Hongmeng Disabled Persons’ Service Centre, over 20 children have returned to Primary School, more than 30 have integrated into regular schools, and over 10 gained employment in restaurants after turning 18.

Addressing the most urgent needs of people with disabilities, the document listed 11 key tasks required, which include improving the public legal services network for the disabled, making legal aid accessible for more disabled people, organizing activities of support such as provision of non-profit legal services, and reduction or scrapping of fees for legal services for disabled people.

“The years of relentless, global BDS pressure on PUMA and the damage to its image should be a lesson to all companies supporting Israeli apartheid, that complicity has consequences. It is also a lesson to the deeply complicit, Western-dominated FIFA, which continues to shield Israel from accountability despite the settlement teams violating its own statutes,” said PACBI in a statement.

“We thank the hundreds of grassroots solidarity groups, athletes and teams across the world who supported the call from 215 Palestinian teams to boycott PUMA,” it added.

“This boycott win is a bittersweet victory as Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians continues. But it gives us hope and determination to hold all genocide enablers and apartheid supporters accountable until all Palestinians can live in freedom, justice and equality,” PACBI concluded its statement.

The disabled community in Ningxia has garnered significant social attention for its impressive achievements in sports. During the recently concluded 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, athletes from Ningxia achieved notable success.

To nurture the artistic talents of disabled youths, the regional government has also decided to give a subsidy of 10,000 yuan to each of such individuals with abilities in singing, dance, opera and painting.

Ma Juan, a student from Xiji County in Ningxia, is a gifted painter who has received government financial assistance to attend an art school. All her family members are disabled due to a genetic disease.

“It is our responsibility to ensure she has the opportunity to pursue a career,” said Bai Xuegui, the county’s Party chief.

The International Olympic Committee evaluated Honorary Member Jang Woong – who has been serving as a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1996 and as an honorary member since 2019 – for his efforts in creating a platform for goodwill and understanding through sports.

The Olympic Medal is the highest decoration granted by the International Olympic Committee – awarded to those who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the Olympic Movement.

“I’m so happy to announce that I would be representing China in the World Cup. Really proud to wear the team China jersey，” Anderson said on his Weibo account.

Anderson’s great-grandfather was Chinese, according to Sina Sports, adding that in 2018, he visited his ancestral home in south China’s Shenzhen City with his mother to trace his roots and was officially registered in the family genealogy under his Chinese name Li Kai’er.
