Cornwall: Groups Making a Difference at the Heart of Communities! (26.8.2026)

Four very different but equally important community groups have been recognised with a nomination for the BBC Radio Cornwall Make a Difference Awards.

The shortlist is made up of groups that focus on LGBT history, on campaigning for the rights of people with disabilities, on memory loss and on cancer support.

The topics might be serious but the staff, volunteers and clients of these Cornish collectives wanted to talk about the fun, companionship, togetherness and love they felt in each and every session.

The winner of the Community Group category will be revealed at a ceremony in Truro in September.

China: Milk Tea Nourishes Grassroots Governance & Ethnic Unity in Xinjiang! (11.8.2026)

For some, the tea gathering may help boost their business. Local craftsman Abduxukur Abdukadir has a problem. His handmade leather boots are of fine quality, yet the steady stream of tourists during peak season has not translated into sales. At the gathering, the neighbours suggested he turn the boots into souvenir keychains, while Zulayat Nurat, a local gourd painting artist, offered to help.

Zulayat Nurat also put forward demands for wider promotion of her traditional gourd painting craft. The community responded swiftly, promoting her works on official platforms and offering a 30-square-metre studio free of rent. “The community truly values our efforts,” she said.

The milk tea gatherings started in 2023 and have been held monthly ever since, according to Nijat Parhat, Party chief of the community.

Cuba: Marrero Cruz – “The most Important & Difficult Stage Begins with the Implementation of the 176 National Transformations!” (31.7.2026)

Towards the end of his speech, he said that recently the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers approved an important budget to pay the debts contracted by state entities with producers of milk, meat and other agricultural productions in order to settle the debts, information that will arrive in detail in the coming days to Cuban peasants.

The agricultural producer, district delegate and deputy for the Havana municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, Emilio Interián, told Parliament that he has no doubt that these measures will be the solution to many problems: “The decisions approved exceed those we proposed or came to think. Results will be seen by the day. Their impact will be short, but on their own they will not solve the most critical problems that the population suffers.”

At another point in his speech, the legislator recounted the vicissitudes that the population is experiencing due to the prolonged power cuts and was critical in denouncing a group of problems that, from his experience as a grassroots delegate, he faces in Arroyo Naranjo.

Fidel Signs Land Reform!

Cuba: 67-Years Ago – Fidel Signed First “Land-Reform Law”! (18.5.2026)

And he concluded his speech on that historic day with “the infinite satisfaction of having fulfilled one more promise, of having contributed to making possible the well-being of millions of compatriots who have been suffering in neglect and oblivion, and who were the ones who, in ’68, in ’95, and in this latest liberating struggle, made the greatest sacrifices.”

“It was necessary to write, once and for all in our pure lone star, that formula of the Apostle that the homeland was for everyone and for the good of all.”

Bronx Anti-War Free Distribution - New York

New York: Bronx Anti-War Free Food Distribution & Fund-Raising! (25.3.2026)

The grass-roots US appears to be strewn with left-wing groups like this that strive to assist the ordinary through the efforts of ordinary people – by-passing the official institutions that either ignore or directly oppress the masses. It is through the various social media apps not directly caught-up in the mainstream – that these groups announce their existence and reach-out beyond the boundaries of their communities. Of course, these groups are often a mixture of anarchists, Socialists (of various kinds) and Communists – forming “United Fronts – usually on a permanent basis (despite ideological differences). As the US System does not tolerate any form of People’s Movement – quite often it is a matter of time before that State raids the headquarters of these groups – films it – and places the footage on social media for all to see – together with a debilitating commentary designed to denigrate the members, etc. It is an Establishment play-book in the US that is deployed time and time again. In the end it comes down not to necessarily agreeing with this group or that group – but simply “knowing” such groups exist and share knowledge of what they do – and attempt to do.

UN experts condemn ‘Board of Peace’, call for a reparative, rights-based approach to reconstruction in Gaza

UN: Legal Experts Condemn Trump’s Supposed “Board of Peace” for Gaza – as Illegal! (20.3.2026)

UN experts condemn the “Board of Peace,” saying it is illegal and contradicts international law and the right to self-determination. They emphasize that Gaza’s reconstruction must be led by Palestinians and guided by human rights and international law. A new analysis highlights that the destruction of housing in Gaza constitutes war crimes. The experts urge an end to the occupation, a held ceasefire, and a rights-based approach to rebuilding Gaza, with Israel and its supporters bearing primary responsibility.
