Hodges boarded the ship on her voyage to New York City from Southampton on 10 April 1912, having spent £13 on his second-class ticket.

His letter was postmarked Queenstown, the former name for the Irish port of Cobh, the Titanic’s final stopping point before heading out to the Atlantic.

In his letter, Hodges wrote about the “fine” weather and the atmosphere on the ship.

It said: “Dear Hector, very many thanks for the telegram and for the good wishes. It was a kind and thoughtful act and much appreciated, and you will please convey my thanks to the members of our association.

“Wasn’t it good of the President to come and see me off? I almost believe I could have persuaded him to come along. We have had a fine time up to now.

“You do not see anything of the movement of the ship, but the weather is very fine.”

He also described that everything was “quite different to what you would expect to see at sea” and said he saw about 200 boys marching round and singing, playing dominoes and cards on the top deck.

The discovery may indicate that Shakespeare spent more time in London in his later years than previously thought

UK: Location of Shakespeare’s Blackfriars House Discovered! (17.4.2026)

One of the documents was a plan of part of the Blackfriars precinct, drawn up in 1668, two years after the Great Fire of London, which confirmed the precise location and size of Shakespeare’s Blackfriars house.

The part of the property that spanned the gate did not appear in the post-fire plan because it had no foundation.

Munro said: “This house was close to [Shakespeare’s] workplace at the Blackfriars theatre.

“We know that Shakespeare co-authored Two Noble Kinsmen with John Fletcher later in 1613, and this new evidence that the Blackfriars house was quite substantial makes it not inconceivable that some of it may have been written in this very property.”

The other two of these documents relate to the sale of the Blackfriars property by Shakespeare’s granddaughter in 1665.

The property covered what are now the eastern end of Ireland Yard, the bottom of Burgon Street and parts of the late 19th Century buildings at 5 Burgon Street and 5 St Andrew’s Hill.

Instead of granting NHS staff more pay (fitting to their qualifications, profession, and workload – they work day and night 12-hour shifts contrary to Union legislation and trading law) – the Tories came-up with the demeaning idea that between shifts, Midwives and Nurses can present a special letter of dispensation to their nearest Food Bank and receive a Food Parcel to feed their families. This is part of the ongoing “de-skilling” and “false crisis” that has its root in a deliberate lack of government funding at source. We continue to pay for a fully-funded NHS through Income Tax (a tax that is currently at an all-time high) – but receive a sub-standard service which is getting worse everyday – in preparation for full-privatisation (our tax is being given to Zionist Israel, Neo-Nazi Ukraine, and privileged groups of incomers – with even North Americans now seeking asylum from Trump in the UK). Until 2010, people in the UK had never heard of Food Banks – but the Tories and LibDems abolished the old UK (1948) system of welfare – which granted a money income to retain dignity – and adopted the US system which is designed to demean as it assists (barely). I am not surprised this individual (below) stole UK government laptops to eat (I certainy do not judge him) – as these devices are military-grade, sold at cost price, and do not have the usual “redundancy” built-in that is common-place within the commercial market. Consumerism demands that longterm stability is abandoned for short-term market stimulation (i.e., things need to be replaced regularly – and this costs money). This prevents the working class from saving their income and using items designed to last decades – not weeks, months, or years (such as denim jeans and the like). Credit where credit is due – within Islam – free food and drink must be provided “free” to every citizen and it is not a crime to steal to eat.

. In the late 1930s, the Finns accepted a large slice of Soviet land in return for a small area of Finnish land (the Soviets thought this area easier to defend in the event of a war). The Finns agreed to this – took the Soviet land and then refused to hand-over the agreed Finnish land in return. This led to the Winter War (1939-1940). The Finns received support and arms from the West, Nazi Germany, and Fascist Italy – before losing the conflict and being forced to hand-over the disputed land. Once Hitler had invaded the USSR, the Finns immeditely joined-in the attack in what they called the “Continuation War” (1941-1944) – focusing their efforts on the North-West area of the USSR. The Finns committed endless atrocities against Soviet Red Army soldiers – and like the Nazis Germans (their allies) – the Finns liked to photograph and film their War Crimes. When it became obvious Hitler was losing the war – the Finns wanted to avoid being invaded and liberated by the Soviets – and so made a separate peace. After the war, Finland faced NO WAR Crimes Trials and was re-packaged as a friendly and inviting country within which “Father Christmas” resides and all children can experience endless merriment and merth. Of course, as capitalism rules the roost – this scenario is an illusion that can be purchased for a price – with the stipulation that the “Buyer Beware”! These children have experienced the first crushing disappointment of their lives – capitalism will ensure that many more will follow!

A social media user on the Chinese platform RedNote discovered the white fungal growth on an apple she had bought from a month earlier. She then posted a photo of it online, which soon attracted thousands of likes, including a Xu Rongju, a doctoral student at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Kunming Institute of Botany.

The institute believed that this is very rare and has research value so it decided to purchase it. The institute identified the growth on the apple as Schizophyllum, also known as the splitgill mushroom – a type of fungus with fan-shaped caps.

After reaching a preliminary intention with it, he began to implement an overseas sales plan. In order to make the first pot of gold as soon as possible, he split and packaged the confidential electronic data, established a data directory, and opened multiple platform accounts to collect the stolen money; after that, he bought non-real-name IC cards and several SIM cards, constantly changed the communication channels, and even used multiple aliases to cover up his identity.
