I say ‘properly’ – but what I mean is doing the job ‘to the best of our ability’ – which is far from professional (but then none of us are carpet-layers or decorators)! The entire job took about three-hours and we did a good job all things considered. Gee interspersed sessions of hammering nails with myself – whilst Paul kept the carpet ‘straight’ and unrolling properly! Manual labour is the essence of social, cultural and political development! Gee gained entry to, trained within, and then successfully qualified as a King’s College ‘Midwife’. Gee was awarded a magnificent medal for that achievement! She then applied to King’s College Hospital for a position as ‘Midwife’ and was successful in that endeavour! This is something of an extraordinary ‘double’ achievement as the standards are extremely high in both establishments! This is the badge Midwives are awarded to wear on their work-uniforms as a mark of respect – in recognition that they have gained this honour!
