The hippies possessed no material weaponry accept “love” – and unfortunately – bullets of iron and steel can pierce a body enthused with this “love” – rendering it a lifeless cadaver. Furthermore, even before the bullets are fired – the deliberate oppression that is “social engineering” is often used to “soften-up” any and all opposition to predatory capitalism and its mania for death. Like many of the more “mature” people amongst us – I am old enough now to have witnessed to the same strategy and tactics deployed by the hideous and demonic government of a US government hell-bent on reducing the entire population of a world into wage-slaves and profit-earners for the privileged top 10%. The UK should have finished-off this aberration in 1776, 1812, or even in 1861 by taking the side of the Confederacy (we might as well have done – as thousands of British fought for the South)! On Friday, the Bishop of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich, Dr Joanne Grenfell, said that she “approached Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Bishops with the voices of LGBTQI+ colleagues and friends on my heart.

“So many have written to me to ask that the House of Bishops does not forget that our work is not just part of a church process, but fundamentally affects their lives and those of their loved ones,” she said.

The Bishop quoted a recent sermon by the Dean of St Edmundsbury, the Very Revd Joe Hawes, in which he called on the Bishops to act (News, 15 December).

Decisions “cannot be paused or stalled”, Dr Grenfell said: “There are matters of justice that need attention now, particularly around ordinands and clergy in same-sex marriages.”

For me, it was obvious that “virtue” equated to “longevity” – and it had nothing to do with the Bible or Western religion (the godly live to very old ages). The Western view was (and remains) that non-Christians are essentially evil and therefore are unable to live to very old ages. The Devil strikes them down due to his own inherent corruption – which flows through their veins. As a non-Christian, this description would involve myself – but here’s the thing – I do not feel any more or less good or bad than anyone else. Furthermore, I was told that Chinese people “lie” about their age in an attempt to mimic those who lived very long lives in the Old Testament (according to the Jews). I could not understand this approach – as Chinese Daoism is an ancient teaching (in one form or another) that specialises in “life-extension”. Virtue (德 – De) is a product of climbing a tower (self-cultivation) so that when the top is reached (enlightenment) – things can be seen in a 360 degree perspective.
