Torquay: Moses Wave Man – My Dad is a Modern-Day Wizard – and He Has Made a Post! (24.7.2025)

Blogger’s Note: My father is now well into his 83rd year (he turned 82 in May) – but his health has not been the same since he suffered a Stroke whilst out walking and waving in Torbay during a lovely Summer’s day during 2016. He is now paralysed down his right-side and has to exist in a wheelchair. Remarkably, despite being right-handed, from 72 onwards, he re-learned how to do everything with his left-hand. Recently, he has been in and out of hospital in Torbay a number of times – with NHS staff stabilising his health and allowing him to go back out “waving” in the Bay. However, the visits are becoming far more frequent and I have started to receive enquiries about his health – even from the local and national media! Typical of my Dad, (he taught us to always find a way through the current hardship), he is dictating the content of his latest posts to whichever family member is visiting him. Hopefully, he will rise again for one more good round – and demonstrate his mettle and grit yet again! ACW (24.7.2025)

Remember – I am a Wizard – Keep Grounded and Focused! (24.7.2025)

‘Thank you for the enquiries about my well-being. As I have mentioned a number of times, my body has stabilised since the Stroke – but has never been the same. I was able=bodied one minute – and permanently disabled the next. My life was saved by NHS Ambulance staff and the NHS Hospital staff in Torquay. For that, I must remain eternally grateful as I understand the strain they work under. Due the the professionalism of the NHS – I have had at lest another nine-years of life – enjoying myself and helping others as best I can. I have also witnessed my grandchildren – Mei-An and Kai-Lin – blossom and grow in their South London schools! Oh, how we look forward to and enjoy their spirit-enriching visits! My life-long partner – Diane – is ageing alongside me and together we have been one another’s strength. She has been the rock that withstands all the storms. I hope my daughter – Rachel – and her husband – Paul – will enjoy such support and happiness in their lives. My son – Adrian – will soon be travelling to the Duddington area to stay for a week to carry-out more genealogical work regarding the history of our family surname “Wyles”! As for Charlotte – our youngest daughter – we all do the best we can to make sure her life is the best it can be. Caring for one another is the gel that holds it all together. As for your concerns – it is true that I have been ill of late and required medical assistance from time to time. This is natural and you should not worry at all. Nature has its cycles and we must move with them. I appreciate your concerns – and as an 82-year-old man – I truly appreciate your kindness and consideration!  We must all somehow find “peace” in the centre of it all!’
