This photograph captures Soldiers of the 150th Infantry Idritsko-Berlin Division – standing to attention on the steps of the Reichstag in Berlin! Hitler is now dead and the Nazi Germany he created is in tatters! The named Soviet Red Army “Scouts” are as follows:
1) M. Kantaria (М. Кантария)
2) M. Egorov (М. Егоров)
3) Captain M. Zholudev (М. Жолудев) – Divisional Komsomol Organizer
Due to the extent of Soviet military and civilian casualties – recruitment into the Soviet Red Army directly from the (Leninist) Young Communist League did happen! The Young Communist League allowed for male and female members aged between 14-28 years old. Those deemed psychologically and physically able (and ready to fight) were allowed into the Soviet Red Army. Most were ‘adults’ – but on occasion (and only in specific circumstances) – a very ‘young’ individual was allowed to be recruited! Such individuals usually inhabited ‘behind the lines’ activities involving keeping-up morale in hard times! In the foreground is an example of this process in the form of the 14-year-old son of the Regiment – Zhora Artemenkov (Жора Артеменков)!

The above photograph features the Commander of the 1st Belorussian Front – Marshal Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov [Георгий Константинович Жуков] (1896-1974) – with a group of Soviet Red Army Officers (and Political Commissars) on the steps of the Reichstag!

The well-known “Artist” of the Moscow Art Theater – N.V. Michalovskaya (Н.В. Михаловская) – is standing next to the statue of “Emperor Wilhelm I” in the Reichstag – with a group of Soviet Red Army soldiers who participated in hoisting the Banner of Victory over the dome of the building! Third from the right – M.V. Kantaria (М.В. Кантария), second from right – M.A. Egorov (М.А. Егоров).
