I have this Church of England Prayer Book in my possession. I think I found in a batch of old books that was passed on to me. It appears to be from around 1860, and published by CJ Clay of Cambridge University. The cover is solid (as if constructed of thin wood and covered in leather) and is heavily embossed with what looks like royal insigia. No date is given on the front pages, but a warrant issued by Queen Victoria gives the date as ‘1859’. Furthermore, this version was designed to last 24 years with this cycle starting in 1850. Although I am not a Christian, I do value old books as important historical artefacts and treat these objects with respect.
