St Peter & St Paul Church - Market Overton

Market Overton: Visiting St Peter & St Paul Church! (28.10.2025)

Culture is an interesting thing – as it often changes and switches. When Henry VIII abolished the Roman Catholic Church in the UK in 1534 (Act of Supremacy) – followed by the Dissolution of the Monasteries – these were tremendous Revolutionary acts that must of shocked the entire population. Even before this, Henry V annulled all foreign-owned abbeys and monasteries (as many English church establishments had been given as gifts to ecclesiastical authorities in other countries) – bringing them into the ownership of the English State. Perhaps the Revolutionary writing was on the wall. Still, out of all this, the “Anglican” (Protestant) movement development – and most of the churches in the UK today are “Protestant” (the Catholic Church was only permitted back into the UK during the early 20th century – but it remains very much a minority religion).

World's first solar magnetic-field telescope operating in the mid-infrared wavelength range!

China: World’s First Solar Magnetic-Field Telescope Operating in the Mid-Infrared Wavelength Range! (23.10.2025)

The world’s first solar magnetic-field telescope operating in the mid-infrared wavelength range has officially become operational after gaining government approval, marking a major breakthrough in solar magnetic field research.

The telescope, known as the Accurate Infrared Magnetic Field Measurements of the Sun, or AIMS, is located in Lenghu township, Qinghai province, at an average altitude of about 4,000 meters. AIMS’ development addresses a long-standing bottleneck in the century-old history of solar magnetic field measurements by achieving a leap from indirect to direct measurement, scientists said.

“The sun, being the only star we can observe with high precision, has a magnetic field that acts as the energy switch driving intense solar activities such as flares and coronal mass ejections. Yet, more than half the sun’s overall magnetic field manifestations are relatively weak, with strengths of only a few dozen gauss,” said Deng Yuanyong, a researcher at the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who led the telescope’s construction.

In a post on Facebook, she wrote: “Our hearts are broken and we need to share this..

“Our autistic son has been treated so unfairly, and we feel deeply let down.

“For over four years, he’s been doing work experience at Waitrose and Partners store in Cheadle Hulme.

“Every week, for two full mornings, he worked so hard – emptying four or more cages of stock, stacking shelves, and helping wherever he could.

“He loved it there. The shop staff were absolutely amazing with him and made him feel part of the team.

“Many of them would say things like, “You work harder than some people who are paid to work here.

“He gave over 600 hours of his time – purely because he wanted to belong, contribute, and make a difference.

“When we asked if there was any chance he could be offered just a few paid hours – not as charity, but as recognition for all the time, effort, and heart he’s given – we were shocked by how dismissive and cold the response was.

“The manager said, “We can’t just let him do his thing,” when that’s exactly what he’s been doing successfully for years.”

She continued: “After everything he’s done, there was no apology, no thanks, and no recognition for his commitment. Just silence.

Taiwan: “Silent” Monuments Commemorate Chinese Resistance [1895-1945] to Imperial Japanese Occupation! (19.10.2025)

The Japanese encountered the largest scale resistance in the mountainous Changhua County in central Taiwan. In August 1895, thousands of local militia gathered alongside remnants of the Qing army to resist the Japanese on a local hill named Baguashan.

They were outnumbered five to one and poorly armed but fought relentlessly for days, killing over 1,000 Japanese soldiers, including a general, before being overwhelmed. Fewer than 50 survived.

One of the leaders, Xu Xiang, left behind words that still stir the heart: “If this land falls, Taiwan is lost. I will not live to see the motherland again.”

China: CPC Re-Deploys Retired Teachers to Remote Areas! (7.10.2025)

This recruitment drive is part of an action plan the government launched in 2018 to enhance the quality of rural education by employing retired educators to teach in rural areas.

According to the statement, the drive will be aimed mainly at retired principals, teaching research staff and experienced teachers aged up to 65.

Teaching professionals recruited under the plan will work at county, town and village schools located in places that had been lifted out of poverty, underdeveloped ethnic counties, border regions and other areas that lack sufficient education resources.

Long Live Socialist Venezuela!

Solidarity with Venezuela: Trump’s YouTube Banning Leads to Greater Sharing of Maduro Resistance! (27.9.2025)

We acquired a Venezuelan flag and a few badges out of solidarity. For our children, they are learning the concept of caring for – and standing with – others who live further away – and are suffering a greater tyranny from the capitalists than we currently are. Furthermore, timing is everything and at the moment the UK is not exactly aligned with the blatant illegality that is the Trump Administration. Therefore, at the moment we are “safe” from being attacked by our own government for being Socialist. Of course, things can change in a moment and our peaceful tactics will have to adjust. This must ability must be taught to the younger generation by those who have lived longer and gained the relevant experience. As a lineage – we pass it on. Everything is relative and until the working-class acquires power – we must learn to find what freedom we can within the oppression we are forced to exist. So be it – until there is no more oppression to keep us down.
