The Union Army paid the farmer $1 per dead Confederate body and the farmer made $60 out of the deal. He dug a new well in a different place for the cost of $2 – making a wartime profit of $58. No one knows the names of these Confederate soldiers – and if it was not for a report being made by the Union soldiers concerned – no one would know about these men today. Of course, there was great bravery on both sides – but the spin placed on the war by the winners has skewed how the Confederacy is viewed today. These Confederate men (and boys) advanced into the Union fire with the utmost discipline and determination. They believed 100% in their cause – which was for the freedom of their individual countries (termed “States”). At the time, this war was not only about slavery – but has been made ONLY about slavery since 1865. Many believed the federalisation of the United States was a betrayal of the 1776 War of Independence – and nothing short of a great evil!

We, in the Palestinian Communist Party, call on the Arab countries, especially those surrounding Palestine, to reject any pressures or proposals that seek to settle the Palestinians outside their homeland, and we call on the peoples of our Arab nation, all progressive national forces, and all free people of the world to stand firmly in the face of these conspiracies that deny the rights of our Arab Palestinian people and their just cause.

Our Arab Palestinian people have proven throughout their long and bitter history of struggle, their ability to confront the imperialist and Zionist plans targeting them, and what they have achieved in terms of steadfastness and defiance in Palestine, Lebanon, and other arenas, is the best evidence that these conspiracies will be doomed to failure.

Israel “Celebrates” Ceasefire with New Atrocity in Gaza! (16.1.2025)

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense, said Israeli warplanes had intensified raids across multiple areas of Gaza. One strike, near the Engineers’ Syndicate in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of western Gaza City, killed 18 people and injured 20 others.

He added that seven Palestinians were killed in a strike on a house in northern Gaza, and another one targeting a home in the Al-Daraj area in eastern Gaza City resulted in three more deaths.

In addition, local sources at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, reported two fatalities in an attack on a house in the Qizan Rashwan area south of the city.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the recent attacks.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry on Wednesday announced an emergency declaration to bring together federal, state and local resources.

“The mission now is to facilitate support and coordinate safety procedures to keep our residents and our visitors safe,” New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell told a news conference Wednesday afternoon, urging the public not to get close to the scene “if there is no essential need to do so.”

Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley announced that the American college football game scheduled for Wednesday in nearby venue in New Orleans will be postponed to Thursday.

“The Superdome is going to be safe tomorrow night,” former New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu told media.

The FBI Houston and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office “are currently conducting law enforcement activity” in north Houston “related to this morning’s New Orleans attack,” the FBI said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

The attack is the latest one of high-profile vehicle attacks on crowds around the world in years. The deadliest one occurred in July 2016, when a man drove a heavy truck to strike hundreds of people who were gathering to watch Bastille Day fireworks in Nice, France, leaving 84 people dead and more than 200 others injured. The IS claimed it was responsible for the attack.

Regarding the challenges and requests submitted by the Israeli occupation authorities, the Court said that the Chamber received two requests submitted by Israel on 26 September 2024. In the first request, Israel challenged the Court’s jurisdiction over the situation in the State of Palestine in general, and over “Israeli nationals” more specifically, on the basis of Article 19(2) of the Statute. In the second request, Israel requested the Chamber to order the Prosecution to submit a new notification of the commencement of an investigation to its authorities under Article 18(1) of the Statute. Israel also requested the Chamber to stay any proceedings before the Court in the relevant situation, including the consideration of the requests for arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Galant.

When these attacks failed – to prevent rape – Okinawan women and girls threw themselves off of cliffs – together with their young siblings and children. US Servicemen raped Okinawan civilians wherever they were found alive – whilst unarmed Okinawan civilians were shot on sight even in areas where all Imperial Japanese Army Units nolonger existed. This is why so many Okinawan civilians were killed – many even after capture or before they could attack again – according to the Americans. The Okinawans were NOT the passive victims trapped between two battling sides. The Okinawan civilians fought hard against the Americans – attempting to protect their ancestral lands and their ancestral shrines. This is a fascinating and highly important book that tells the story from the other side. The US Army possessed virtually no one who could speak Japanese – as all Japanese-Americans had been placed in Concentration Camps in remote areas of the US.
