Robot Beijing Marathon

China: Android Runs Complete Half-Marathon! (16.11.2024)

Human performances varies across a considerable scale – whilst Socialist ideology emphasises “effort” whilst also recognising a natural “achievement” at the high-end of performance that does not leave the bulk of humanity behind. Human performance must exist on a scale that allows an “average” ability in real life that ensures the survival of the human race. Migratory humans used to “walk” thousands of miles whilst following the good weather and the shifting herds. All humans, men, women and children, as well as the young, old, and ill, would participate in these massive migrations – with the lower speed ensuring the greater survival rate over-all. Yes – those who could run fast over long or short distances had their place – but such abilities were considered peripheral to the needs of tribal survival.

Ruby (2008-2024)

RIP “Ruby” – the Malamute Wolf-Dog! (2007-2024)

Despite her size and strength – Ruby was gentle with children and other pets – despite being more than able to defend herself if the need ever arose. We shared many long and meandering walks through the hills and dales of the Devonshire countryside over the years. Once, whilst in a local forest Ruby jumped into the river and disappeared deep into the murky depths. she eventually re-emerged and scrambled unscathed up the bank – all for a Jaffa Cake! Another time she jumped through an (open) upstairs window and walked around on the roof for about an hour – be fore Gee finally managed to entice her up the roof tiles and back in! People travelling on a local double-decker bus were watching the spectacle as the bus drove past!

Disabled Children Treated with Compassion!

Across China: Rehabilitation Assistance Brightens Future of Disabled Children! (21.1.2024)

Many Chinese families have benefited from the National Assistance System for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Children since its establishment in 2018. In Gansu, designated Rehabilitation Institutions for Disabled Children have increased from 30 to 205 over the past years.

The Provincial Government also invests over 43 million Yuan annually to support the Rehabilitation Institutions, and that figure is expected to increase to 63 million Yuan in 2024. Some cities and counties further adopt diverse development models, including Public-Private Partnerships, to include more Disabled Children aged between 6 and 17 in the Rehabilitation Assistance System.

With the efforts of Hongmeng Disabled Persons’ Service Centre, over 20 children have returned to Primary School, more than 30 have integrated into regular schools, and over 10 gained employment in restaurants after turning 18.

Old Telephone Box - Galmpton

Galmpton Village: A Boxing Day Walk! (26.12.2023)

Although we had booked today (December 27th, 2023) to visit Agatha Christie’s house (Greenway) nearby – we just received an email notification that due to the bad weather – the house is currently ‘Closed’! Although there is a storm blowing – many Agatha Christie enthusiasts have still made their way here – one or two from as far away as Japan! Still, we are not exactly Agatha Christie fans, but we are interested in history and cultural development. Yesterday, the wind and rain stopped for an hour or two and this allowed myself and Gee to walk the dogs through Galmpton Village. It seems to be a place where rich people retire and the envious walk through.

Kai-Lin’s Poppy Pictures – Lest We Forget! (17.11.2023)

German soldiers could not believe what they were seeing as these columns of British soldiers – with rifles shouldered – marched calmly toward the German trenches, stepping through the poppy flowers as they went! Initially, many German machine-gunners refused to open-fire on such an obvious target – but were forced to do so by their Officers! The result was an absolute massacre! However, the British High Command accused these working-class regiments of cowardice – and pushed more and more men into the area for the next three-months! In some places the bodies lay stacked in 12-foot piles – and it was these natural barriers that the newly arrived British soldiers had to climb. Many advanced over the shattered bodies of their fathers, uncles, sons and brothers.
