International Workers' Day - 2026

China: May 1st – International Workers’ Day – Celebrating the Empowerment of Women & Girls! (1.5.2026)

Zhong, 49, who is also a deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature, and an inheritor of the She ethnic martial arts, said: “Only a thriving village can preserve the She ethnic martial arts.”

Under her leadership, roads were repaired, streetlamps installed, and tourism facilities upgraded. Instead of moving away, many villagers became homestay hosts or martial arts performers. Thanks to rural tourism centered on the She ethnic martial arts, the village’s revenue jumped from 200,000 yuan ($28,000) in 2021 to 500,000 yuan in 2024.

According to the 2022 progress monitoring report of the Outline for Women’s Development in China (2021-30), women accounted for 54.3 percent of neighborhood committee members and 41.3 percent of neighborhood committee directors, as well as 26.1 percent of village committee members and 10.9 percent of village committee directors.

Data from the Ministry of Civil Affairs showed that in 2022, there were 489,000 village committees, with a total of 2.154 million village committee members. And there were 118,000 neighbourhood committees, comprising 663,000 neighbourhood committee members.

Lovely Ketton - Perhaps We We Were an Episode of the "Prisoner"!

UK: Dialectically Walking Through the Quaint Village of Ketton (Northants)! (5.8.2025)

Recently, I spent a week in the Northants countryside. Fresh air, good food, wide open spaces, a garden, things to do, and everybody saying “hello” – and “good morning” – and meaning it! Coming from a London suburb, the general rule of thumb is “silence” – when meeting people you do not know just in case they want to rob or rape you. There is also the ever-present threat of someone you don’t know asking for “money” or “food”, etc, all things that are not allowed within cities. My children are taught to remain well-behaved by the school when meeting others – to be “quiet” so as not to attract the unwanted attention of others. Walking through the picturesque village of Ketton last Saturday (1.8.2025) was interesting, as well-meaning groups of old ladies loudly greeted us like they knew us – all ready to help at a moment’s notice – we were even invited to a Church Service within ten minutes of arriving!

The Beauty of "Juche" Socialism!

DPRK: Flood Victims Move into New Houses! (22.12.2024)

They also extended thanks to the builders, officials of those areas, Party members and working people who completed the housing construction in the flood-hit areas at the highest level through a do-or-die struggle to bring joy to the people.

They stressed that the fine new houses to be owned by the flood victims would be unthinkable apart from the wise guidance of Kim Jong Un who has noble outlook on the people.

Representing the unanimous wishes of all the participants, the speakers extended the warmest thanks to Kim Jong Un who absolutely defends the destiny and future of the people across the country and takes warm care of them.

Conveyed at the ceremonies were the household goods sent by Kim Jong Un to the flood victims and the licenses for the use of houses.

The venues for the ceremonies turned into a sea of tears of gratitude of the people deeply moved by the great benevolence of Kim Jong Un who provided them with excellent houses and even household goods free of charge.

Around 50,000 Lived in Cahokia at its Peak!

Cahokia: Native Americans Lived in Cities – Climate Change NOT Responsible for Demise! (9.8.2024)

Natural climate change has always happened – and is happening now – with the caveat that certain Environmentalists now suggest that the agency of human behaviour also contributes to the process of climate change. Indeed, it has become stylish in certain quarters for climate change (natural or unnatural) to be blamed for environmental alterations that cannot be readily or conveniently explained. Until recently, the dominant hypothesis – presented as fact – was that the ancient (Pre-Colombian) City of Cahokia (located in the region of St Louis) had disappeared in the 1200s (13th century) exclusively due to climate change. New academic research, however, has provided reliable (objective) academic evidence that climate change was not partially (or entirely) responsible for the demise of Cahokia.

Yanji in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture Witnesses Spark of Coffee Trend! (6.4.2023)

In 2022, Li Xiangying and her husband opened a cafe with characteristics of the Korean ethnic group in her hometown Yanji. Combining local specialty apple pears and folk customs of the Korean ethnic group with coffee, they promote native folk culture to tourists through coffee while enriching the coffee culture in Yanji. The northeastern border city of Yanji in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture has witnessed a spark of coffee trend as over 540 coffee shops are registered in the 680,000 dwellers city in recent years. According to the data from Meituan Waimai, a major food delivery platform in China, Yanji ranked first in coffee consumption among counties (including county-level cities) in China from January to February this year.
