Pen is Mightier Than the Sword!

My Shakespeare “Complete Works” Editions! (10.3.2024)

The first was in 1992 – purchased from a local WH Smiths in a place called ‘Tiverton’ in East Devon (I believe during the time that my Irish grandmother – Gladys Kilmurray – was very ill and when her British daughter and American grandchildren were visiting the UK from Seattle, US) – whilst the second was acquired from The Works in Torquay High Street in 2007 (five-years after my family had uprooted and migrated to the South Coast). Both are superb editions with the first being easy to carry around whilst the latter is a very large, impressive and “Grand” Limited Library Edition – designed as a “Reference” copy only NOT to be borrowed or moved about (it is far too heavy for that)! The first is compact – whilst the second is lavishly illustrated and easy to read.

Greenway House - Torquay

The British Imperialist Crimes of Agatha Christie! (29.12.2023)

As matters stand, the National Trust charges around £35 for a family of four to look around the interior of the house – but does not want the general public to know that anyone can walk around the gardens and exterior of the house free of charge. This explains why each visitor is requested to ‘Book’ a parking-space prior to being permitted to look around the house – and some of the Staff in the house act in a bizarre and suspicious manner when ‘guests’ (which might not be ‘paying’ to enter the house) gravitate toward the front-door of the mansion! Let’s face it, if all these stolen artefacts were given back to their rightful owners – the National Trust would be showing paying visitors around rooms containing only British-made table and chairs!

Busy Doing Nothing!

Greemway Gardens: Encountering the “Robin”! (29.12.2023)

Indeed, within the behaviour of these birds is the history of their interaction with humans and the surrounding the environment. Interestingly, there are photographs on display in the house that record the physical presence of family cats – but I suspect that as the house is so big and the grounds so extensive – these cats probably never ventured very far out of the house and into the gardens. Of course, Gee managed to find a cluster of bamboo shrubs probably planted by Agatha Christie – or at least one of her servants.

Old Telephone Box - Galmpton

Galmpton Village: A Boxing Day Walk! (26.12.2023)

Although we had booked today (December 27th, 2023) to visit Agatha Christie’s house (Greenway) nearby – we just received an email notification that due to the bad weather – the house is currently ‘Closed’! Although there is a storm blowing – many Agatha Christie enthusiasts have still made their way here – one or two from as far away as Japan! Still, we are not exactly Agatha Christie fans, but we are interested in history and cultural development. Yesterday, the wind and rain stopped for an hour or two and this allowed myself and Gee to walk the dogs through Galmpton Village. It seems to be a place where rich people retire and the envious walk through.

South Devon: Galmpton Bolt Hole! (24.12.2023)

If the average reader knows anything about South Devon and the political complexion of many of its people – Arabic channels would be the last type of media that would be expected. Still, the place is near where my parents live and is not far from major shopping centres. For the time-being – this is our family headquarters and the place we will be spending Xmas Day 2023. We are not religious (as we are Scientist-Socialists or more specifically Marxist-Leninist-Maoists) – but we do wish the whole of humanity peace, love, security, self-determination and endless prosperity! Long Live Palestine – and may ALL the Zionist War Criminals be bought to a swift Justice!

Paignton: Moses Waveman – Appearing Opposite the Gasworks for a Limited Time! (24.6.2023)

My father used to wave further up the road but due to the Managers of various (UKIP-supporting) Hotels in the area continuously calling the Police due to drivers ‘beeping’ their car-horns in happiness – he moved to the more remote area away from these deficients and their bigoted attitudes! After-all, the happiness he represents will outlast the dark politic intrigues these reprehensible individuals support! As Moses Waveman always says – look toward the light – as that is the direction the answer to all your problems lie! Today, as he is 80 years old, my father states that he is mostly ‘light’ and that when what is left of his body finally transitions into pure consciousness – it will be time to leave this Earthly plane! THANK YOU Yannis Nicolaou and the Young People of Toorbay!
