China: “Do NOT Confuse Hegemony of Navigation with FREEDOM of Navigation!” (5.5.2023)

State Councilor and Defense Minister General Li Shangfu called on Sunday for regional countries to stay highly vigilant and firmly reject the actions of some countries outside the South China Sea, which exercise “hegemony of navigation “in the name of “freedom of navigation”.

He warned that those countries just want to “muddy the waters” of the South China Sea to “rake in profits”.

The defense chief made the remarks in his speech delivered at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, a day after United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told the security forum that the US will continue to work with allies and partners to uphold “freedom of navigation and overflight” in the South China Sea.

What the Holy Qur’an Says About the Moon Splitting in Two! (28.3.2023)

‘The first verses of al-Qamar are understood by the vast majority of commentators as a reference to a miracle performed by the Prophet. One evening he was addressing a group of disbelievers and Muslims on the plain of Mina, just outside of Makkah. The disbelievers had been disputing with the Prophet for several days, demanding a miracle as proof of his prophethood, and they began to do so again. The Prophet then raised his hand and pointed to the moon, whereupon it appeared to separate into two halves, one on either side of nearby Mt. Hira. He then said, “Bear witness!”, and the line of separation disappeared. All were left speechless, but his opponents soon discounted it as an illusion produced by sorcery. According to one account, one of the disbelievers said, “Muhammed has merely bewitched us, but he cannot bewitch the entire world. Let us wait for travellers to come from faraway places and hear what reports they bring.” Then, when some travellers arrived in Makkah a few days later, they confirmed that they too had witnessed the splitting of the moon.’

Hong Kong: Dunhuang Treasures on Display! (24.8.2022)

The development of the modern scientific method, however, informs humanity that this attitude is mistaken, and that regardless of just how ‘perfect’ each cultural expression happens to believe itself to be, there is always another equally important (or impressive) cultural expression waiting just around the evolutionary corner! Throughout pre-modern times, emerging cultures, (regardless of their technical or architectural achievements), were relative affairs that could be toppled with just the right amount of pressure applied to the correct place! China’s long history of continuous and impressive cultural expression is no exception to this rule!
