Taiwan: “Silent” Monuments Commemorate Chinese Resistance [1895-1945] to Imperial Japanese Occupation! (19.10.2025)

The Japanese encountered the largest scale resistance in the mountainous Changhua County in central Taiwan. In August 1895, thousands of local militia gathered alongside remnants of the Qing army to resist the Japanese on a local hill named Baguashan.

They were outnumbered five to one and poorly armed but fought relentlessly for days, killing over 1,000 Japanese soldiers, including a general, before being overwhelmed. Fewer than 50 survived.

One of the leaders, Xu Xiang, left behind words that still stir the heart: “If this land falls, Taiwan is lost. I will not live to see the motherland again.”

China & Taiwan Are One!

Taiwan: Racist US Education Reforms Destroying Chinese Cultural Identity! (29.9.2024)

“It’s clear that no one is born supporting Taiwan independence, it is an ideology deliberately cultivated,” Wu said, adding that while this ideology is nurtured by certain politicians for their own purposes, it is not unchangeable.

Wu noted that in recent years, he has encouraged several students to visit the mainland and was surprised by the changes in their perspectives.

“Before their visits, these students referred to the other side of the Taiwan Strait as ‘China.’ However, upon returning, they started using the term ‘the mainland’ and inquired about more exchange projects to the mainland,” he said. “So, I am not pessimistic about the future. In fact, I am hopeful.”

Since the Democratic Progressive Party authorities are unlikely to change their education policies, efforts from the grassroots are imperative to establish a historical perspective based on Chinese identity and to restore education of traditional culture, Ou said.

“Politicians come and go, ideologies change, but the wisdom passed down from our ancestors over thousands of years will never fade,” Ou said. “I have confidence.”

China: Taiwan Labour Party Opposed to Expansion of American Institute in Taiwan! (1.8.2023)

It also raised concerns that the AIT might be planning to add helicopter pads and station more U.S. troops to evacuate U.S. citizens and DPP military and government officials in the event of a conflict to avoid a repeat of the scramble to evacuate the U.S. Embassy in the city then known as Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War.

The party denounced disparities in land use in Taiwan, comparing the low rent for AIT premises with the struggle Taiwan’s youth face in finding affordable housing and DPP government claims that there is a lack of public land for additional social housing.

It added that the fact that the AIT is seeking to expand onto school land is an encroachment on the island’s education resources, and questioned why the DPP’s high-ranking officials are allowing the expansion to happen.

The party called for unity among the Taiwan people, firm support for their demands and resistance from residents.

CPC Rejects US-Backed Taiwanese ‘Fascist’ Calls for Independence! (28.10.2022)

The root cause of the current tension in the Taiwan Straits is due to the DPP authorities’ stubborn adherence to the secessionist stance of “Taiwan independence “and engagement with external forces for provocation against the mainland, while external forces play the “Taiwan card” and use the island to contain the mainland, Ma said.

He urged the US to fulfill its political commitment to not support “Taiwan independence” and stop sending wrong signals to “Taiwan independence” forces.

Language resolutely opposing and deterring separatists who seek “Taiwan independence” was added to the Constitution of the Communist Party of China at the 20th CPC National Congress, which concluded on Saturday.

“‘Taiwan independence’ is the biggest obstacle to the reunification of the motherland and a serious danger to national rejuvenation,” Ma said.

The addition to the Party Constitution was made in response to the current cross-Straits situation and reflects the will of the Party and the wishes of the people, he said.

Kim Jong-Un’s New Year Greeting Statement – 2014

The original article stated that the New Year message of Kim Jong-Un retained (and built upon) the thinking of the former leaders – Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il – emphasising the significance of the need for further development in 2014, particularly with regard to working towards the resolving of the Reunification of the Motherland Movement issue, the defence of national sovereignty, the maintaining of peace in the world, and the development of dignity.
